All that I can say is that, when reading the opening post, I was worried that it was the car in question.

Props the the OP for never naming the seller. I think he did the right thing by venting to us.

Good luck with the repairs, and remember that you can paint panels with BC/CC and not have to do the whole car.

So, I'm totally wrong when I said "IMO for 20K you should get a fairly nice running car"?     :clueless:

you are totally wrong. Regardless of what the cost was the engine should be running and the wheels shouldn't be grinding on the brake calipers. If you send a car out that isn't working you are a piece of **** and a shyster.

There's always two sides to a story guys and since I don't have a dog in this fight.... here's my thoughts:

It's clear Cndchallenger feels he was not treated fairly and that things were not done up to his standards.  He has a long list of things he feels should have been done different or were not done right at all.  The list includes a wide verity of items that range from a non running motor to date code correct items.  IMO for 20K you should get a fairly nice running car, but 20K doesn't seem anywhere close to what a challenger with show car paint and date code correct parts should cost.  Many have spend more than 5 times that to get a date code correct perfectly painted ebody.

Was the agreement for a date code correct show car restoration?  Or did they agree he only wanted to spend 20K on the car and do the best with that budget?  I have yet to see any documentation of the expectation or work to be preform from either side.  I think we should all withhold judgement on either side and do what we do best.  Provide the best advice and insight so Cdnchallenger can get his car to the level he wants.  As a group there's really nothing we can't solve, fix, repair or restore on ebodies.  I look forward to seeing photos as he takes his car to a new level.  Next summer will be here before you know it and his plan to do the engine work this winter is perfect.  Let's go the extra mile and really try hard to help him with good solid engine advice and positive comments to keep him going.

Have a great evening.

Cody,

It was $13,500 for the car which supposedly included a rebuilt engine and transmission and then an additional $20,000 on top of that for a total of $33,500.

Steve was it running at some point? Like did the shippers drive it on and off the carrier? I ask as I had a horrible experiance shipping mine, the shippers did over 4k in damages , then had the nerve to phone me up and say the car is now inoperatable and they require more money to finish shipping it.

That's definitely a chunk of change!

Could you tell me if the engine and trans were rebuilt by the seller or if he bought them from someone else as "rebuilt"?

Thanks.

Well I can tell from firsthand witness C O D Y knows what he is talking about when it comes to the price of restoring these bueaties and it isn,t cheap especially if you have a numbers matching car. I am not as researched and self trained as some of the jedi-masters here and have made a few bad deals myself. There def are people out there who will screw you for your money and have no problems sleepin at night. I feel Cdn got screwed on his power train and brakes but his car is still nice and well worth doing it right!!! even at 33,000 into it. I am at about 28100 grand into mine from start  ,( not numbers matchin but date coded and some 71 cuda parts ) to where I am at now and alot of that was gullibility and lack of knowledge Buyer beware. I would love to see pics of Cdn 's car.

Cody,

I have no idea who did the rebuilds. I never received any invoicing or bills etc.

Buying a car sight-unseen and expecting to not be disappointed is like expecting your mail-order bride to look like Angelina Jolie.

If it were me spending a whole pocket of bills on this....I would have checked the car in person, BEFORE shipping....think that maybe more problems would have been taken care of in person instead of online....so easy to bash someone from behind a screen, when things could have easily been settled in person. True but on the other hand a seller/ builder with any decency or honesty wouldn't send out a car in that condiition

Cdnchallenger,

Hopefully you have been documenting all the problems by taking pictures before and after you fixed them, can you post up some pics?

I think we are all interested in seeing them.
