WIW 70 Chally
« on: January 16, 2005 - 03:41:33 PM »
In todays market, what would a 1970 Challenger RT/SE 440/4bbl auto with track pac option (4.10 Dana) be worth. Lets say the quality of restoration was very nice, maybe overrestored with painted underside etc. All correct plating and hardware. Some non stock items such as ignition, intake and exhaust. Most of front end was replaced (fram rails, etc). Color is EF8 (death color, I know) but with a lime green bummble bee stripe. Black leather interior, rim blow wheel, 6 way ds seat, PDB, PS, and 15 Rallye wheels. Just curious.

Without pictures, It's hard to tell. I'd guess you are in the 25K range tough.

Sounds just like my car except yours is a 440...mine's a 383, and the color is different.  I think with today's prices, it's probably worth a little higher than $25K. However, the NADA price for our car shows $48K for an excellent resto, but I don't think many would pay that much for it...but you never know.

Well, I tried to post the results page...but that didn't work.  I went to:  http://www2.nadaguides.com/UV/SelectCategory.aspx?LI=1-12-1-2032-4-190-26792&wSec=12&wPr=1&wPg=2081&ct=11&mk=1052&yr=1970&md=2458&sy=26833&da=0
Clicked "Muscle Car"..."Dodge"..."1970"...under Challenger R/T "2 door hardtop 383"...selected "383, Factory Air, and Special Edition".  Comes back High Retail  $48,430.

OK...this is funny..something is wrong with this equation.  I put in all the same stuff as my car except changed the 383 to a 440 and got...$41,250.  Now since when is a 383 worth more than a 440???  Something's weird here.

Thanks.  that was what I was figuring.  No pictures yet becasue I haven't started the restoration.  I will hopefully get into it later this year.  I never thought about the NADA sight.

more in the very near future, sounds like a very nice car.  just keep the origional parts in a box
(Some non stock items such as ignition, intake and exhaust)              it shouldn't hurt the value if its an easy swap.

... I don't know about that!  I really like EF8.  Should be a great car either way when you are done.

EF8 with a lime bumblee bee stripe? Awesome!

A buddy of mine keeps a Registry of Challengers with rare stripes, send me a PM and I will hook you up with him, he has some great photos of known examples.

T/Ake care,
