i MAY be getting a cuda!
« on: November 12, 2011 - 04:49:47 PM »
I found a 70 barracuda shell about 3hrs south of me. Should be getting pics tomarrow. He said its rusty and needs front frames. But he has new front frame rails for it and a lot of parts for it. He wants 1000 for it, but he said he'd cut me a deal on it. Also has a 70 440 block I may get to. Now I wait for the pics. If it looks good I'll drive down to look at it.

Well, I won't be getting a cuda. The car is sittng on the ground,no frames, floors, trunk, one quarter and the tail light panel are cut in half, part of the fire wall was cut out.. Nothing was useable. He wanted 1000 for. There wasn't one part one the car that was good. I give up. Not to upset any one here, but cuda owners a way to proud of there cars. I'm now convinst cudas are are a bragging right than a hobby.  :poopoke:

To bad about the Cuda.  Keep looking!  Part of the fun is the chase!  :grinyes:

You have any pics?  Always fun to look at.

Can't up load the pics from my phone. It was so bad I wouldn't take it for free. I give up on it. I still love them. I'm just never going to buy one. Say want you want. But I think the hobby is dead.

The hobby isn't dead and they're still out there but the main problem is barret jackson, everybody thinks they're sitting on a gold mine and thinks now is the time to cash in on their junk  :swear: It really pi$$es me off

Isn't that the truth.

I have a friend with a 70 chevelle with a modern 454 in it.

One bad ars car.  However, several folks keep telling him that it is worth tons of money and he should send it through an auction house like BJ.

Yeah, right.  Those cars that go for tons of money are ten point cars.  Usually with rare options and a list of specialties.

BJ sucks for the hobby.  Pretty much lands the hobby in the lap of rich guys.

:22yikes: NOOOOOOoooooooo!!!!!!!  Never say never!!!!!!!  :2cents:

Stuff is out there, you just have to weed put the granola (the flakes and nuts) that think thier rust pile of crappola is a diamond in the very rough.  I look around craigslist and still see some stuff.  It all depends what you want. There's more Challengers our there than Cudas that I have seen locally, not sure about your neck of the woods.  A nice driver '72 Challenger  is going for about $7k locally.

Yeah, the BJ and Mecum/Russo and steel people are kind of a pain in the butt, but it's because of some of those auctions it has really brought our cars out into the limelight.  So it's a double edged sword: we can brag about a '71 HEMI Cuda vert going for $2.5 million, but we also complain about why our cars are so expensive and the parts cost so much.  Gotta take the good with the bad, IMO.  :2cents:

Of course I would love to walk in to a salvage yard and pic up a 440 for $50 bucks like the good old days...

Well I rather they wouldn't be in the limelight which = lower prices! Yeah challengers are cheaper and more easy to find than a cuda because they aren't as cool (kidding) Ive seen a good amount of 72-74 Challenger Drivers for 7-12k and once in awhile a decent 72-74 barracuda/cuda driver for 8-12k. I also see a lot of ads to where I look at the project or fully restored car, read the description, and the price then automatically think Barret Jackson watcher. I see a lot of those ad's  :villagers:

All comes down to waiting for the right car that's affordable for you.

Step away from the search for a while, a few months maybe, and then check back.  You might find your dream car.  You always find things when you are not looking for them :)
