waiting 7 years, The restro has finally begun
« on: November 14, 2011 - 01:16:48 PM »
hello all

lifetime fan of e-bodys, purchased what will be built into my dream car 7 years ago, at that time I lived in apartment, no garage, and just married.
Straight from purchase, pickup to storage, and had not seen untill this last saturday,
finally expanded my postframe building so i could bring my cuda home.
Saturday I finished the building, picked up car, and it brought home.
been purchasing parts for since day i bought it, now i have all parts, a place to do it and the beauty is at home in my garage, everyday since full restroration has begun. I will post pics but just wanted to say hello all and Its go time! hope to use this as a build thread not only to entertain but document progress too.
bought in the hopes of piecing in new front end, but as always found much much more needed to be replaced.
will be built:

1971 cuda HT/340/727/yellow ext /white int/shaker
 :bananasmi :ylsuper: :jumping:  :clapping:

I was in that boat for three years, no garage just a Carport that I cordoned off with plywood. It has taken another 3 getting the parts, paint, and supplies from my own wallet, ( wife alert...wife alert). Every winter it is a battle for who owns the garage space. I have 2 nice sized storage sheds but that is not enough,, NOOO .. the garage has to get filled with stuff sometimes to the point of not being able to do any work. I love her to death but the garage space battle continues.... God bless her!

Someday my car too will be done hopefully within the next 2 years but 4 or 5 may be more accurate. Then I am getting ANOTHER ONE!! A little more complete this time.

Nice start on the ’71 Cuda!
You already have the gilled front fenders (wish I did) excellent!
Only two tools you need now to finish: Time & Money
Looking forward to watching the progress.

BTW, don’t be alarmed, but your garage is haunted.  In the pics, there’s a multitude of orbs present.  Hopefully they are nice spirits and will work on the car at night.  But with your luck (being a Mopar person) the ghosts were all Chevy owners in their previous life.  Don’t be surprised one morning you go look at the engine bay and its painted black.

just a update, I have been hauling on my 'cuda, exterior metal, replaced rad core support, both rear quarters, driver side wheel well, whole ext body down to bare metal, reworked, filled and primed, all other parts build reworked and ready, only some blasting in side, and underside, final body sanding/filling to do then paint and its time to reassemble it all!
heres a few pics
note: also had concrete floor put in building, so the 'cuda has a nice home. :ylsuper:
