Mike, consider that $25 no insurance fine a gift. Up here, if you have no insurance, the fine ranges up to $5000- the first time! Cali hasn't got the market on Nazis cornered , yet!  :swear:

One way or another, that is a bad habbit to kick given they account for a lot of accidents.

I think it's a just law.

Just b/c YOU can drive and yap on a phone doesn't mean someone else can, like a teenager, old geezer, or Asian woman.

Way too many people killed or injured permanently b/c of so many distractions nowadays.  If it ain't your phone, it's the Garmin nav on the dash, or an iPod.

What do you expect fro the Land of Fruits and Nuts?!!!

Our state is like 10 states in one. Different types of living styles in different geographical areas.
We get a bad rap as a state all because of the publicity from the media on SFO. Such a small picture of what we are. 20 miles east of me and they are like big Texas ranch hands herdin cattle.

The real issue is our legislators all trying to become immoralized by creating the "new perfect law"
Their idealogy is: create a new law that is heard like the "first shot heard around the world" and you get re- elected.

Yeah there are some good parts, California nees to get it's act together it is overwhelmingly progressive liberal in the metro areas, does not give a hoot about the conservative areas your pointing out and financially will drag the US down like Greece is dragging down Europe with it's debt. Has sancuary cities all over the state for illiegal immigrants. If the state went after it's resources, stopped killing of business with ridiculous draconian regulation maybe there will be some hope,.. But I am not holding my breath!! When i was training down there in the military we had to peel the foil out of our milk cartons and separate the grabage into 10 friggin differnet garbage cans and could not drive our tanks off the tank trail because we Might harm an unseeable Fairy shrimp!!! Californian deserves it's title the Land of Fruits and Nuts!!

All I ask is for you to stay the heck out of the passing lane while on the phone.

why do people think that just because the passing lane is relatively free of other cars, they can use that lane to zone out on their cell phones!?!!!

People need to learn that is my lane and to get out of my "center-of-the-universe" point of view way!!!

Just say'n.

Texting and driving on cell phones is the natural selection of getting rid of stupid people....Just like the ones that recieve that "Darwin" Award thingy, and X-Game, idiot, thrill seeking, adrinaline junkies...

These people only roll the dice so many times before the rest of the world is finally rid of them for good.
Same goes for the "Gotta drive 100 MPH to save a few minutes, when I shoulda got my lazy ass up in plenty of time as to not be late for work" idiots.
Give it time.

Trouble is, the perpetrator usually survives the car accident and the innocents don't. :swear:

I agree... seems a lot of people driving 100,000$ cars don`t have any money left to buy a car kit too... or they like to show the outside world their newest i-phone ...  :screwy:   sadly they are also the ones best protected by their cars.

I just don't see how you can successfully enforce a law that says no talking on a cellphone or texting. Unless a policeman is driving right behind or next to the car, he would never know. Just my 2 cents worth, but in the coming years, drivers distracted by electronic devices will outnumber drunk drivers on the road.    :2cents:

The problem with that is, the guy texting usually kills an innocent person along with them.   Not much unlike a drunk driver.
