Stock tire size?
« on: November 17, 2011 - 07:43:18 AM »
I got my 15x7 Rallye wheels a couple of weeks ago, and when the time comes for rubber I want to go with a stock tire size. I don't really want to go with Polyglas because they're a little too pricey when I plan on leaving little black patches around Puerto Rico. What's the modern equivalent to the E or F60 15's? It's going to be a 340, 4 spd 71 Cuda, so I'm not sure if that changes the size at all.

2006 Honda Civic Hybrid (It doesn't save gas, it just diverts it to the Cuda/Challenger)

Chart shows the E60-15=P225/60-15 & F60-15=P235/60-15....I would go with the latter.

I think I'll go with the 235/60-15s. I might even go 245 on the back. It won't make much difference visually, but it will give me a little more boot to the road.

235's are a nice sized tire.  They looked right at home on a huge 76 Charger I used to have.  They should look good on an E-body.  If you want to go with a wider tire on the back, I'd run a 255-60.  Somewhere I have a picture of a 70 Challenger with 235's on the front and 275's or 295's on the back.  It looks really good but you'd have to go with a wider wheel and probably roll the quarter.

I had 295s on the car when I got it and it looked pretty good, but this time I want to go with a more stock look. I may go as big as 255, but right now I'm thinking either 235s on all 4 corners, or 235s front and 245s rear.
