71 vs 72 Inner fenders
« on: November 18, 2011 - 10:16:30 PM »
What's the difference between a 70-71 inner fender and a 72-74 inner fender? I looked on Roseville's site and they have both, but I'd like to know the difference before I order the wrong one. The right inner fender on my car is in good shape, but I'm going to replace the left which was already replaced with a 70 inner sometime in the past.
All I really noticed in the way of differences in the little pics on Rosevilles site was the 72+ seemed to have more mounting holes but I'd like to know if there's more, like the shape of some of the folds etc.

AFAIK 1970 is the only year that is a different stamping.  71-74 are the same.  They only differ in the predrilled holes which would be year specific.  For instance, my 73 now has two extra holes for the 74 seat belt interlock relay.  I didn't notice it before the engine comp was painted. :swear:  The 71 will have different holes drilled for the horns as well as the washer bottle.  Both of those things changed in 72.  The 71 won't have holes for the charcole canister.

As long as you have the later style inner fender, you can weld up any unused holes.
