Having trouble boiling fuel in traffic, what do you think about this solution?

Ok I was bored, so I bought a new intake modified it to blow air at both fuel bowls using a bildge blower. We use these quite a bit on stock cars to cool brakes and fuel pumps/carbs. Sure is a blessing to have the equipment to "play" . I figure the six pack style air cleaner will hide most of the bildge pump blower, I'll paint it flat black to try and hide it some more?
I started out with a new Holley Street Dominator intake for my 440. It's only $200 if I screw it up?
First step was to cut off/mill away what I don't want. I'm using the EGR/ exhaust crossover as a tunnel for air. I welded the hole shut that's under the carb to seal things up from the fuel/air circuit. Then I got in some trouble as the wife came home early to find the intake in her oven getting preheated for welding. A few hours welding and cleaning up the welds and it seemed to work pretty good when I hooked it up to the battery! We will have to see how it works in the real world though

Very nice handy work, that cast aluminum is hard to manipulate. However is that blower going to hold up directly on the engine? With the heat/vibration? If you got really fancy you could make a swamp cooler out of it.

No it's not a swamp cooler! It's a redneck turbo! I wondered about the plastic metling with the engine heat too.  I guess I'll find out? The circle track crowd uses them to cool brake rotors and parts under the hood. I figure if it doesn't work I'm only out $20 for the blower and I could mount the blower off the engine and use ducts to connect it but I wouldn't as I think it would look kinda ugly. That's why I mounted it were I did ,in the hopes the air cleaner would hide it?

where is it going to pull cool air in from? it may make it worse from the radiant heat under the hood blowing thru there... 

I thought I would first try it as it is. I could always easily run a duct/hose down behind the tranny or where ever. I considered cutting a hole to the cowl to draw coller air from, but no way am I gonna cut up my car for that.

   ... I could mount the blower further "down stream" if need be.
Truth is I still don't have "urge" for a STR-14 intake outta my system yet!  This might never get used?

I'm with ya on the str!!! Everyone says they are race only but wow I really wanna pick one up! Just wanna learn the hard way I guess
