    Just switched out my 71 Challengers' dual exhaust with Flowmaster 40's to a 2-1/2 inch H-pipe exhaust with Flowmaster 50 mufflers.  I love it and it still sounds great.  :cool: The 50's have that great Flowmaster sound, but it's tamer than the 40's.  It I would guess that it's maybe 25% quieter than the 40's so it takes the loud edge off the exhaust.  Not nearly as obnoxious as the 40's around the neighborhood so the neighbors will be happier.  Maybe so, but it sure ain't a stock db level either by any means.  They're perfect for me.  :burnout:  Anyone else running 50's?

    Not that I know of.  I plan on running some 2.5" or 3" pipes with Flowmaster's 40 Series.  I want to make sure those other guys will hear me coming from miles away. :grinyes: :tongue:

    I look at the 40 series this way - the wife hears me before I get on the block, so she then can get the garage door for me.

    How are the 50's on the freeway? The 40's I have drone ( resinate? ) like crazy on the freeway.

    I've got 40's on the Charger and love them, put dynomax on the wife's Chally, they are ok, but..............a bit tiny for me, maybe it's just the small block 360, but it's built reasonably "hard" ? Anyway, for the r/r 440+6 I just went to summit and brought 3" all the way back with series 40 Flowmasters..............hell with the neighbors, besides they love the sound of the Charger, they are always egging me on to rev it up and smoke the skins,lol.  :thumbs:

    That's awesome!!!  Good thing your neighbors aren't like the member who was called in for painting in his garage with the door open.

     I have 440-6 in hard top headers, 3 inch , h pipe,  40s  sounds like it should    NASTY :laughup:

    I just got the 50's and I am hoping they sound good.  Glad you like yours!  I can't wait to hear mine once they are installed.

    I have a full 3 inch system i made with flow master delta flows. They are Freakin loud! If you drive your car alot like i do they get annoying! Driving to the track and back i get a pounding head ache. Anyone want to trade me some Dynomax Ultra flows????

    The 472 hemi in my 71 has a full 3 inch exhaust, h pipe, with 40 series flowmasters. It sounds really nasty, but a little too loud IMO, esp. on the highway at certain speeds. I'm not changing them, but if I was installing mufflers I'd go with the 50's.

    April, the 50's sound and perform just like the 40's but it just a bit quieter.  Still get that great idle rumble and great muscle car sound under hard accelleration, but it's much nicer inside the car and you're not cracking windows as you drive by.  Don't get me wrong, I love the 40's for the most part, but they DO get tiring if you drive you car alot (IMHO).  I live in a cul de sac and starting the Challenger at 6:30am with the 40's was quite an experience with the sound bouncing off all the houses.  :grinyes:

    morparnut: LOL but the 50's are far from kitty cat level.  Now the DynoMax Super Turbos on my Charger are clearly Meow mufflers...I have TTi headers and the Dynomax mufflers and it STOCK level quiet  :banghead:  Too quiet for a performance exhaust system!

    Haven't had a chance to get on the hiway yet with the 50's.  Maybe this weekend.

    The 50's are a little loud on the hiway as well in my BB dart. I would prefer a little quieter myself. They do sound awesome when you're performing though :)

    I don't mind loud just as long as the sound matches the vehicles moving speed.
    Some cars sound nice and loud but sound like there going faster than they look and it kills the look of the car, all noise no go.
