Anyone ever try a brand called Auto Armor, sold on ebay?

Wondering if an $89 cover will work versus a $300 cover?

 I finally found something that keeps the cats and dust off my car. Painters plastic! (light/thin visquen)  It's quick, easy ,and cheap, so remove it and throw away every drive then roll out a clean new sheet when you get back to the garage. It's the cats meow.

Depends if it is for indoor or outdoor use. Don't need anything special if it's just to keep the dust (and I guess cats? ) off in the garage.

I use a heavy duty Bass Boat cover.
Vinyl outside with soft plush inside.

Has heavy duty tie downs as they are intended for shipping purposes.

Boat covers in general work well as they are heavy duty, every boat that comes to a boat shop from a dealer has one and most shops will throw them away so you can pick
them up for a good price.

   I've touring a couple higher end auto restoration shops and this is what they use.  I tried a cheap cover one winter.  It felt pretty soft.  I was very careful with it and it still scratched the tail panel trim.

Are you guys talking about inside car covers? I have no experience with "painters plastic", but for outdoor use, you need something that's breathable.

 Yes, it is definitely for indoor use only.

So you just need a dust cover. Anything breathable and light weight is what your looking for. Not much more than bed sheets. Your garage is the ultimate car cover.

Thanks guys.....looking for covers for two vehicles, my fish and the wife's Stang.

The immediate need is for her Stang.   May have to sit in a snow storm once and then it is going onto storage. (We are not storing it until we know snow and salt are imminent).  The storage garage is relatively clean and dry, so at that point an indoor cover would be fine.

So it has to be an outdoor-appropriate cover if I go with just one cover.

Covercraft makes covers.....and have good reviews.....but at $300+ they should....have seen a mixed bag on reviews about the $75-100 covers.  Some that are "waterproof" are not, etc.

If anyone comes across a cover that is waterproof, I would like something for outdoor use.  Certainly nothing that is breathable . . .

Ended up buying a cover from Pep Boys.......it is the "premium" cover made by cover-rite (I think).

It says it is "virtually waterproof" and is breathable.

They had a (less expensive) model that was "100% waterproof" but it said you would need to remove the cover every few days to allow for built up moisture under the cover to be released.......not the situation we are in.

Thinking about it, I guess "breathable" and "100% wateroroof" just dont work together......I have "100% waterproof and breathable" goretex boots, but they occasionally leak....LOL...so....

I figure this one will do us fine.......its in a garage and truth be told, the cover will see only occasional use when the car isnt in storage.  So this one makes sense.

$99 and there is a $20 rebate.....so basically what they want online for the same type.....but if I open this one up and it sucks or is ripped etc I can take it right back.

I just get the low priced one's on E Bay. They may last a year or two but for the price...what the heck, not a bad deal. My cars outside and it stays very dry. I use 2 car covers. A good one first then the low priced one over that. Another option is the thick black plastic sheet between the two covers.

We put it on the car for the first time tonight.....seems like it could be a little longer on the sides, leaves about 6 inches or 8 inches of paint exposed on the rockers.....and the grommets and straps they attach rest right on paint.  But for what it needs to do it will be fine....I plan on buying some adhesive backed felt to cover the grommets/strap section with to prevent scratches.....
