Anyone interested in the new Dodge Dart?
« on: December 06, 2011 - 02:52:48 PM »
Maybe if I could order it with the 5.7, but maybe we can at least eventually get the new Pentastar 6. I thought that was Chryslers engine of the future?
Looks kinda like a mini Charger.

A few years ago we were infused with German DNA, and now Italian. I think we're being mutated! But at least its being manufactured here in Illinois.

That does look like a mini-Charger. Hey, I think it would be a cool replacement for the Avenger. I'm not sure if they would offer any of the Hemi engines as a choice, but that would be nice.   :grinyes:

well, personally I dont think the old Dart was anything to write home about, though sure there are some that may be sentimental about it. Maybe your Mom drove you to school every day in one, or you made out with your first girlfriend in one. Other than some of the v-8's in those cars,  there really wasnt much to them, so I have no problem with a totally new and different Dart. It is the 21st century, and they own the name, so they are entitled to call it whatever they want I guess. Just like I have no problem with the new 4 door Charger. They need to sell as many as they can, and a 2 door Charger would only eat into Challenger sales.
If they can make this new car a drivers car (light, nimble and quick) they may have something, but my guess is it will be a heavy slug with an anemic 4 made to move the masses. We'll see next month.

As long as it is reliable Super fast and looks good!! Put a fat stripe wrapped on the rear and put out a model with the 4.7ltr.

I agree, but regardless it's not going to be cool.  Not like the challenger at least.  4 banger + 4 doors + ugly fiat/Euro styling = crap.  People will buy it, and I bet it will be successful, but nonetheless nothing to get excited about.  The only thing remotely appealing about it to me would be the name, "DART".

Pray they DON'T put the 4.7 in it or we'll all spend too much time changing engines. Try to find a good, cheap, used one.  :swear:

Sorry guys, 4 bangers only. The 2.0 and 2.4 Chrysler 4's, and a 1.4 turbo 4 that has to be Fiat. Some of that info herehttp://jalopnik.com/5865454/2013-dodge-dart-is-the-new-dodge-caliber

So, likely a 4 door, AWD sedan. Looks to have the Crosshair style grille and new Charger tail lights. Too bad, they could have at least thrown in a hint of the original Dart, styling cues on the grille or tail would have been easy enough.

Now, if they release a 2.4 turbo again, I might be a little interested. The '04 SRT4 I had moved pretty darn good and responded well to modifications. That was a turbo 2.4. Still, not really anything like an original Dart. As far as that's concerned, I think the Charger was a rip off too. At least the Challenger involves picking up some styling from the original.

Still, good to see Chrysler getting back into the market, hopefully the new Dart is a contender for them.

The fact that it's made in the USA is awesome!
 :wavingflag:

Would be awesome the R/T with AWD and stick shift.  Doubtful they'd offer that combo though. :walkaway:

Most Darts were not very exciting but were good, reliable basic transportation. The new Dart is probably comparable to a Focus which would be a good thing as they seem to have great reviews. My last econobox was a `2000 Neon which was a great little car fro little money.

I'd be interested since I've increased my commute the last couple years.  I bought a Chivy since there wasn't a comparable dodge at the time.
