Yep,
just introduced at the Detroit show today. Looks like a decent replacement for the Neon/Caliber to compete with the civic and ford focus.
I hope they sell a million of em.

My commute looks like it might be increasing in the next year or so.   I could see letting this little Dodge into the family.

IMO it's a nice looking little car.  Euro looks.  Probably for fuel savings the little 4 bangers aren't exactly stellar as far as HP output, but it'll be quick enough for the average family.  Looks nice.  If the reliability is good then it'll put some faith back into Chrysler....hope it's not more expensive than it's competitor cars in that class.

Would be nice like afore mentioned if they make an SRT-4 or SRT-6 version.

Would be even nicer if they made a 2 door turbo 6 cylinder and called it a Demon....  :grinyes:

That is a great idea.   A 6 cylinder Demon would be cool!

I understand if you don't agree with the name.   If you look at the 2006+ year Charger as a car with no lineage and a stand alone automobile,  it is really very nice.

I agree, but regardless it's not going to be cool.  Not like the challenger at least.  4 banger + 4 doors + ugly fiat/Euro styling = crap.  People will buy it, and I bet it will be successful, but nonetheless nothing to get excited about.  The only thing remotely appealing about it to me would be the name, "DART".

I agree. A "Dart" with European "styling?" No thanks!
Now here is a (real) Dart I would be interested in:

Me niether , I have never been a big 4 door guy unless it is a crew cab pick-up. I prefer the long doors and sliding/folding seats for passengers. Sorry Grandma!!! you need to limber up to get in there.

well, personally I dont think the old Dart was anything to write home about, though sure there are some that may be sentimental about it. Maybe your Mom drove you to school every day in one, or you made out with your first girlfriend in one. Other than some of the v-8's in those cars,  there really wasnt much to them, so I have no problem with a totally new and different Dart. It is the 21st century, and they own the name, so they are entitled to call it whatever they want I guess. Just like I have no problem with the new 4 door Charger. They need to sell as many as they can, and a 2 door Charger would only eat into Challenger sales.
If they can make this new car a drivers car (light, nimble and quick) they may have something, but my guess is it will be a heavy slug with an anemic 4 made to move the masses. We'll see next month.
The old Darts had a well-deserved reputation for reliability. The GT series was a good way to get some luxury at an affordable price.
And, for some years, there was a good range of engine choices. For instance, a '69 Dart was available with a 198 and 225 slant six, 318, 340, 383 and 440 V-8s. And they didn't look like Euro or Japanese cars!

I owned a '66 Dart GT (with mildly modified V-8) from 1979 to 2002. It would pretty fun to drive. Averaged about 16 mpg and ran 40-60 mph in 4 seconds.

I still think that you shouldn't fixate on a car name and look more into it's stand-a-lone merit.

We got lucky with the new Challengers.   The fact that new Challengers even half way resemble the old ones is certainly not an industry standard.

A handful of die hard enthusiasts will never dictate the market to the masses.   And why should it.  Car companies would go broke pretty quickly if they catered just to us.

I hate it too, but that is the case.

Peace.

Interest?  = zero.  But I wish them luck.

Sell the crap out of them and take some of the profits and build some super cars!
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.
