What the hell was I thinkin....
« on: December 06, 2011 - 06:41:43 PM »
[Posted on the DC board, figured I post it here as well]
Went junkin' the other day and stumbled upon this POS. MAde an offer and now I'm the "Proud"? owner...

1937 Chevy truck. (Or what's left of it). Gonna be Chrysler 440 powered, with a 4-speed. Obnoxiously loud, Long duration Solid lift cam, Maybe a tunnel ram and some huge rear tires, Once the Challenger is done of course. The best part? No matter how "Hacked"/"Cheesy", etc. my work, it probably be considered "Legit"...

Mike, I assume your referring to the bed. No, I only got what's pictured, along with running boards which I don't need.

Looks like a decent body and all the sheetmetal for the front half. I'm a big fan of old pickups. I still have my '55 F-100 with '72 Fury front suspension and 3:90 8 3/4 suregrip, that I drove in highschool. I plan on finishing it finally after my Challenger is done. (429 and toploader for engine / trans)

Yes, I was referring to the truck bed.  Those '30s tucks look great with the boxes and rear fenders - lowered with steelies and the paint job that is already there!  :2thumbs:

Take a look at the latest Hot Rod and you may get some inspiration. There's the damdest machine in there that I've ever seen and I love it. It's frt is a 36 Binder cab with a 58 Custom Royal rear end and it's got the same "patina" that yours does. Great find!

I always said by 40 I'd have some sort of Hot Rod. I guess this ones it. Now I'm torn between Gasser or "roach" rod. Leaning towards Ratty, but Gasser would look cool as hell too.

Well, the whole deal with this thing if I make it happen is CHEAP. Safe, but cheap. I'm looking into Postal Jeep frames right now, but wouldn't mind an S-10 set up from the cowl back as it's pretty much a "Bolt -in" deal from what I've heard. Either way, I am stuck on running a straight axle front end.
