That PS3 deal where you have to hold the wand looks funny.

If you're going with the 360, check into getting Forza 4.  Lotta old muscle in it.

I know that alot of this is a recap but we have both, the Xbox 360 and a PS3.  I bought the PS3 to watch Blue Ray movies back when the cheapest Blue Ray player was around $700.  The PS3 was $300.  The traditional difference is that the Xbox 360 has more games so you can find "better" games.  The PS3 is a better gaming system, (more memory, higher resolution, etc...) but does not have as many games.  I think that unless Xbox 360 picks up Blue Ray sometime down the road, maybe in a Xbox 360 II or something, it is a dieing system.  Kind of like old Beta tapes.  That is not a big problem unless you like games like Rockband where your hardware (drumset, guitars, etc...) are a big inital investment and the game is always expanding with new songs.

you really cant go wrong with either a ps3 or 360...

if your in it for the gaming experience either one will work...

the only pro that tops the 360 is a ps3 has a blu ray player...

this is the best time to buy a system. Many stores have gift cards with purchase.

Best buy is also currently running a buy 2 get 1 free on all video games 29.99 and up.

toys r us has a buy 1 get 1 50% off.

As said, it kind of depends on what you are looking for?
I have a PS3, and Wii, and borrowed an Xbox for quite awhile.
PS3 gets my vote.  Free internet gaming, if that's what you want.  The PSN was hacked but as far as I know the security features were greatly enhanced.
If you get a PS3 exclusive game you will notice the difference in power.  (I highly recommend the Drake Uncharted Series, AMAZING and fun, as well as Gran turismo 5 of course.  PS, get a racing wheel for any racing games, best investment ever.)  An Xbox-PS3 game often gets limited to what the Xbox can do since it has less ability to produce the graphics etc PS3 can.
As for Xbox having more games, I don't buy it.  If it is, it's negligible.  I haven’t really found myself ever saying, “Man I really wish I had an Xbox cause I can’t find a game to play”.
Xbox Kinect does seem to beat the PS3’s motion system though.  But I haven’t really played much with those gimmicks yet.  I’m waiting to see if it really becomes better than what they have now.  They are still somewhat in their infancy.
But, as one poster mentioned, go to Best Buy or something, try them all and see.  They will be your best bet.

Awesome info here guys!  So let's talk about games . . . It appears that my brother is getting an xbox also and I thought it would be a good idea to buy him some games for his present.  What do you recommend?

Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3 are the latest and greatest releases currently out.  Gears of War 3 was released a couple months ago, and is a great game.  All of these have an absolutely massive online community, so you can either play through the campaign alone, play co-op in various play modes, or just play online and get your butt spanked by 12 year olds (I know this through way too much experience).  If you get the right games, you can get by with 3-4 games per year and be perfectly happy.

Good games listed by 73chally.
I would add Forza 4 if you are looking for a good racing game.

Don't over look some of the older games. If your new the console market you can save some coin and start a good game collection.

Red dead Redemption
forza  3 is very playable and is about 20 dollars with all the cars included look for the combo pack

If your getting kinect pick up one of the maulty sport games so you can enjoy what the box can do.

Actually I have a 110" projection I plan to hook the new system to.  Viperboy came over and we hooked his playstation to it and it worked pretty good!   Just need to decide what games to buy.  I haven't played anything since playstation 2 came out years ago and that is currently in a box somewhere in a closet.    Kind of looking forward to checking it out but don't want to get to addicted as I have plans in the garage with the hardtop this winter.
