Thanks.  It was cold in the garage tonight so I took a break.  Hopefully be back on it tomorrow night.  I have a question for you guys.  Wasn't there a metal plate on the driver's side interior by the sill plate that covered the wiring going to the back of the car?  If there was, can someone give me the length of it?  I want to try to fab it myself.

Yes but I don't know the sizes...mine's coverd with carpet...and it's a Challenger.

Here's a shot of the two sections as they sit in the car, then the front section, then the rear and one of the profile - I also took some measurements, in millimetres.. This should be enough for you to fab something up.

Front section - 645mm long (centre to centre), 85mm high at rear, 70mm high at front.
Rear section -550mm long (centre to centre), 100mm high at rear, 92mm high at front.

The hardest part was to weld in the patch where the vent was.  A friend of mine made up the ring and flat piece.  Pretty good fit.  The metal was shot on the edge from the top of the brake master cylinder all the way to the drain under the wiper motor.  We brazed those areas.  Next, I'm going to weld up the holes that are throughout the firewall.  Then weld on the cap.  By the way, does anyone know the best way to seal the top cap onto the lower cowl?  When I removed it, there was a sealer used from the factory.

How do I apply sealer, press the two pieces together and then spot weld it without destroying the sealer?

Back at it again.  Some success, and some not.  Started to attempt welding up the holes in the firewall.  Spent a good part of Saturday with little luck.  No matter what I did, I couldn't get the holes to fill.  Cleaned the area to a shiney finish, ran a drill throught the holes and could not get a good fill.  Then I tried tacking a small piece of metal on the inside of the firewall, then tried to fill.  Did not work.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  As you can tell, I'm a novice welder.  A good friend of mine used to do my welding but this time I'm tring to do most of it myself.  Since I got discouraged, I went to the floor pans and started to weld up the many little screw holes and the larger ones that were from the plates that were welded in for the roll cage.  The one on the right I completed today.  Tomorrow night I'll get the left one done.  I ground the welds down so you guys couldn't laugh at my welds.  I must say, I am better welding on horizontal surfaces than verticle.

Use a copper paddle behind the hole. The weld won't stick to it.

Buy a piece of copper tubing. Like a 1".
Cut in half long ways. Fold it over and hammer till flat. Then use a needle nose vice grips attached to it.

if you are enough familiar with your MIG welder,  you can put the torch horizonatlly and start building your weld on the half lip of the hole.  Little by little you should be able to fill the hole.

Filled and patched over 80 holes in the floor pans.  Some as little as screw holes and some 3/8.  Ran out of argon today so I decided to remove the home made sub frame connectors that were in the car.  Not fun.  I was hoping someone can help me determine if the wiper motors I have are both 2 speed.  The black one came on my car and the other I picked up cheap.

Yikes..are those frame connectors made from fence posts?

I beleive that both of those wiper motors are 3 speeds.

Thanks for the response.  My problem now with the wiper motors is the switch on my dash is for a 2 speed.  Yeah, the frame connectors do look like fence posts!

I'm no expert but from what I've read on here is more than just the motor and switch, differnt linkage/arms are needed too.
