Progress.  I welded in the quarter panel. Not too bad.  I struggled with getting the quarter to the door edge level with each other.  Also, the fender well lip met well at both ends but the center was tough.  I just finished patching the roof where I had to remove a chunk due to rust underneath and on top.  This week I will put in the tail panel.

Moving right along.  Welded in the tail panel.  Fixed up the trunk lock support.  Had a hole popped in the the side and lower attaching area was rusted.  Also started patching holes in rear valence.

Changed the direction on what I am doing with the car.  I have decided to make some custom changes.  70 tail panel, shave the side markers.  Later down the road, I plan on changing the suspension and wheels.  As far as progress on the body, I completed the rear valance repair and striped the old paint.  Trying to get the trunk lid done.  Removed all of the paint and patched the hood pin holes that some one had installed.  Their is one area that has a warp to it.  Last year a friend of mine thought he could repair the holes by brazing them.

Finished welding up the lip molding holes and patching the holes in the underside of the trunk lid.  Finally, sanded and coated the entire underside with osphos.  Will cover it with a light coat of primer in the morning.

Awesome work!  How did you strip it and what tools did you use to strip the trunk lid?  I want to strip my car down to metal and I will be doing it section by section like you are.  Any tips, tricks, hints would be appreciated.  Thanks

I used paint stripper on the top.  I had three layers of paint to remove.  The under side I used both stripper and a wire wheel. Yours may be a little easier since some one used what looks like Por15 on the under side of my trunk lid.  That was the main reason I used the stripper.  If you do use paint stripper, make sure you use it in areas that don't have nooks and crannies.  If you don't do a good job removing the residue, your new paint will not adhere well.

Worked on repairing the inner framing to the area under the quarter windows.  Someone hacked large pieces out of it with what looks like an air chisel.  Time consuming but came out good.  Also installed the quarter braces that someone chopped out.

Finished repairing both sides under the quarter windows.  Started to fix the four speed hump.  I finally decided to replace it.  I cut all of the welds and removed it.  Replacement will be here this week.  I will probably fix the old one later and sell it.

Welded in the hump today.  Also removed the plate where the roll bar was welded to the passenger floor pan.  I have been putting it off since it was a lot of grinding.  Going to finish stripping off the rust and paint on the floor and prime it.

Thanks.  I did some more today.  The wire covers on the drivers side were missing so I made them.  One of the members here made a template for me.  Next I plan on cleaning up the floor and putting some primer down and was thinking of using Lizard Skin on it.  Anyone tried it yet?

Just saw a rebroadcast of "muscle car" on Spike TV, where they painted their COPO Camaro clone with Lizard Skin Heat Barrier. They said that if you are also going to use the Liz-Skin Sound Deadener, to put it down before the Liz-Skin Heat barrier.

I have never used lizard skin products before ,but as all spray on products Bed liner ect ect I would make sure you get the area clean of any dirt, rust , loose paint ect before spraying. Your car is looking good and progressing . Keep the pictures coming..
