You can also use the POR15 as a seam sealer, you just got to coat and recoat the seams to let the product build up, it is an excellent product :2thumbs:

Thanks for the info.  I thought it would work on the seams.  I actually stripped out the seam sealer where the floor pan meets the fire wall.  I put a good coat in the seam and put it on a little heavy over the seam the second coat.  Sealed it up nice.

POR-15 vs. Rust Bullet:

A member here said he put POR-15 on the underside of his Jeep and it began flaking off in big pieces later on.
He may have done something wrong so no way to conclude what the probem was.

I used Rust Bullet on certain areas on my car.
The downside on Rust Bullet is that's it's UV sensitive. It changes color from a silver to a gold color from sunlight after a while. No idea if that comprimises it's integrity.

What I did was I thinned it slightly with Reducer and shot it thru a gun. It came out very smooth without any irregular patterns. It was easy to scuff and top shoot a primer on it after.

Making nice progress.   :2thumbs:

my experience with Por 15 was not good , new metal just welded in , cleaned properly & coated with Pro 15 , shortly after I was able to peel most of it off in one sheet

Same here, I had a rusty Ford 9" housing I wire wheeled with a disc grinder. Cleaned it very well and mine too peeled off in large pieces in less than a year or so, easily removed the rest with a pressure washer? Maybe I did something wrong? :dunno: I was not impressed as that stuff is not cheap!

The first time I used it was back in the 80's.  Back then, I used it and it was great.  I remember going to the Englishtown Swap Meet in Englishtown, NJ and they would take old car parts that were painted with it and you could wack it with a hammer and it would still look good.  I can't say the same for today's formula.  I had a can for at least five years and it was still good.  This new stuff is starting to skin over in the can after a week.

Well, I got a few more things done on the car this weekend.  I started to put my front suspension back in but realized the torsion bar seals were shot.  Will have to pick up there next week when the new seals arrive.  I did get to work on my driver's side fender.  I had a split in the steel just south of the head light bucket.  I don't know if it will hold up though.  I ran my air saw though it and then welded it.  I wish I could get behind it and weld a piece of steel over it.  I also had some rust in front of the wheel.  Just a few holes but I figured I might as well cut it out and patch it.

"usraptr" = United States raptor - bird of prey = United States Bald Eagle.  FYI, somebody else thought of it first so I had to drop the "O" in raptor.

Hey guys, the por15 will not stick well to cold panels, it really likes warmed panels. I am thinking that the weather cold have been an issue for you guys in Canada maybe :dunno: When i apply it, it is in the middle of a hot day and the panels are hot to touch, it would soak it up more when it is hot compared to cold.

Nice patch panels you are applying, giving yourself plenty of area around the rusty spots not to allow it to come back, :2thumbs: good work :clapping:

Today I worked on the driver's side fender.  Found some more things to fix on it then expected but that's the way it's been for this car.  The one mounting area had a bunch of holes drilled in it.  Looks like someone struggled with putting in hood pins.  I welded them up.  I took the sand blaster out and found the front edge had some rot in it that was filled with bondo.  Cut it out and welded in a piece of steel.  Just needs filler now.

Trying to finish the driver's fender this weekend.  (Hopefully)  Cut out the side marker light area and patched it along with another area on the mounting surface that had some more rust.  Will try to finish tomorrow with replacing the dog leg.

Finally finished the driver's fender.  I wasn't very pleased with the AMD patch.  If I had the money, I would have replaced the fender with a new one.  Starting the passenger side tomorrow.

What specifically was wrong with the patch??  We have two of them to do.
