Ron, I don't know what type of puller you're using, but if it"ll hook up solidly, I'd snug it up, give it a good rap with a brass hammer and then put a 1/2" impact gun on it. Give the gun a snort of air tool oil before you hit it. Failing that. make a wee shroud from a piece of tin to shroud the armature and case and using the cutting tip of a gas torch-(lots of heat, quickly) heat the puller dull red and THEN hit it with the impact. A water soaked rag will quickly cool down the shaft before you cook the bearings. Support the weight of the alternator on the pulley when you hit it or you'll drive 'er out the back side, and it won't charge worth a damn after that! Good luck!
