    The engine compartment is easy , pull radiator/ motor with tranny, few hrs with help break out the wire wheel air tool attachment strip it to the metal wipe it thuroughly clean with a solvent like IPA but acetate is best does not leave a film like IPA. Primer it thick several coats, spray matched color then clear. reinstall everything. Could do it in a weekend.

     I just wish I was as confident about replacing a full factory quarterpanel.

    When the motor is out that is a good time to paint it but everthing needs to be thouroghly degreased first you can strip the paint or just scruff it up real good and clean before painting with a high temp paint. I dissassembled / stripped mine 69 block completely with aircraft stripper, pressure warshed it, air gun dried it before it could flash rust, then painted it.
