Any whiskey drinkers here...
« on: December 16, 2011 - 11:32:26 PM »
I was gifted a bottle of Jameson 18 year old. Got it from another small business owner . Anyway... smoooooooth, way to good to pollute with soda. This stuff reallly can take off the winter chill!

It might be a shorter list if you ask if there is anyone here who doesn't enjoy Whiskey or Scotch!   :faint:  my oh my.... um gooood.
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

I rarely touch the stuff nowadays, always have it on hand and the garage fridge always has multiple style beers but I prefer the whiskey's over the brews. My Wife is the opposite prefers the beers to the whiskeys liquers unless they are white russians or Hot buttered rums. :drunk:

Jameson is some very good whiskey!  Try some Woodford's Reserve when you get a chance. It's relatively inexpensive. On the rocks, it can hold it's own with the "expensive stuff".

I must say I've been spoiled over the years. It was a nice gift for sure. And a great surprise as I only know this person outside of work/not socially either. I'll tell the story another time. Anyway its really good stuff! Also I've really grown an appreciation for high end rums over the last few years too! They go so good with a good cigar! (Brooks pay attention here!) As for you beer drinkers.... ol BIGS has been a homebrewer for along time. So I do enjoy a good craft beer too! Its too cold to go into the garage... gotta do something!  :2thumbs:

I'm not much of a Scotch fan but I do like Bourban and blended Whiskey. I am, after all, an official ambassador for Maker's Mark.

My childhood friend/ husband of my first fiance/ blood brother/ and general neyer-do-well has a collection of the bottles we used to empty when we were just cutting our teeth on bourbon in the late 90's. It's the same way, about 120 bottles and all of them different (some same distiller but different size/ style bottles).

One of them is a bottle of Wild Turkey I found in Puerto Rico. It was only 3/4 full when I found it at the Navy Exchange back when I was stationed there in the Navy. It had never been opened or sold and was lost behind some big equipment in what had to have been, indicative of the distinct markings on the bottle and cork, the late 1970's or early to mid 80's. They were shutting the base down because of the Clinton base closings and were liquidating everything in this particular shoppette. I got the bottle for $1. The manager told me she would just give it to me but they didn't know the rules about giving alcohol away for free.

I sent it back to my buddy in my hometown with instructions to wait until I got back. I don't know if it was any stronger but it sure was smooth.

If you want another strange story about liquor and Puerto Rico, ask me about the Rum from Columbia that had cocaine in it! It was like the breast milk from the goddess Venus
