Summit Racing seats
« on: December 17, 2011 - 09:22:53 AM »
At a cruise this past fall I saw a Cuda with the $150 summit racing "simulated leather" seats....

Tried them out and have to admit that for the price they are sweet.  That said, I am a bigger guy and they seemed too "squishy" in the shoulder area due to the bolsters.  Plus they have the holes for racing harnesses which I do not need or want.  So started looking at other options on the summit site.

Found these

$285...reclines, seat back folds up for rear entry

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SCA-80-1000-51LS/
$322 each, recline and backs fold forward for rear entry.

Anyone have one of these seats and can comment as far as quality, ease of install and how well it "fits" the car?

I have that first seat and use it as a second set of seats in my challenger. I swap the originals out if I'm going autocross racing.

They work pretty good and are ok in the comfort department but look out of place in a muscle car IMO unless you have upgraded the rest of the interior to match.

The other 2 are kind of gm looking IMO  :stirpot:

I have the Jegs GS-1 Sportsman seats. Similar to the first pic. I love'em. Great upgrade. You don't need to hold yourself in place with the steering wheel when going around corners. BUT, they do make getting in and out a little more difficult.  :2cents:

I want more seat and lumbar support but dont need/want the shoulder support.....just too uncomfortable for me.

Saw in another thread that someone used Omni seats, Recarro seats etc etc....dont want to do any mods to the floorpans aside from drilling holes maybe....and dont want to sit up any higher in the car since headroom is already a premium for me.

Do those seats work with the stock brackets or did you guys have to make/buy custom brackets to bolt the seats in? Any pictures of you put in those seats?

Thanks, Mike

ProCar buckets

I have the second set of buckets and am happy with them.  The factory bucket seats were not in good shape and were missing some parts, so I was looking for something that offered some support but was still easy to get in and out of and that wouldn't look out of place in an otherwise stock interior.  Here are 3 pix in car and you can make up your own mind whether they suit your tastes:

Installation was easy using the mounting brackets from Procar, but please note the brackets are sold separately.  Just like the seats, the driver and passenger side brackets are different.

Mizz....from what the pictures show, looks great IMHO! (reposting them here so folks can see...hope you do not mind...))

SOme questions for you below...

Have you driven with them yet or are they yet untested?

How is lumbar support? (I assume its NOT adjustable).

How is the seating position compared to stock....higher or lower or same?

The vinyl looks like it could be a little wrinkly.....at least in the pics.....

How does the vinyl feel in person?? (Dumb question??)  Soft like leather or plastic-y like vinyl?

Would you characterize the foam as stiff or soft?

How tough was the install with the brackets they sell? Do you use the stock sliders?

Sorry for all the questions.....I like the looks of them for sure.....wish I could see a set in person....

I see that the back seat looks similar...did you have that done custom i guess?

This looks more Mopar. I'd buy them if I drove the car on the street.

I think this is really subjective......Nothing but the original seats will look 100% "correct".......

So I figure might as well go with looks the best to me and feels the best.

I wish there was a good way to keep the origina lseats and make them more supportive and make them look better etc.

But I figure if I am going to spend $600 on just seat covers, might as well make the seats COMFORTABLE and SUPPORTIVE while I am at it and just spend a little more.

But anyways....looking for folks who have these seats and can comment.

Found these on the Procar site......probably be the ones I will go with if I go this route......they have adjustable lumbar support...something my back will love....LOL   Thinking about getting the black vinyl with black velour inserts...no A/C in this car and vinyl will just be a sticky damp mess in the summer....LOL

look into some older bmw type seats. e28/e30  or  e36/e46 vert seats, they have a complete seatbelt system in the seat.
