The Cult music vid Painted On My Heart, 2 Cuda's....
« on: December 17, 2011 - 03:44:25 PM »
Don't know if this was posted like years ago, but here goes...

Ok, so I'm catching up to the times... replacing my VHS version of Gone in 60 Seconds with a DVD and saw this music video on the DVD (Don't think the VHS has this!, Mybe it does.  Never got to fast forward to the end of the movie!  :roflsmiley: )

At the beginning you can see the lead singer driving a '71 Cuda, shaker.  Later in the video you'll see I think a '70 in Plum Crazy with a Rallye hood (51 seconds).

1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

Not a bad song, but their earlier stuff was much better:

I always liked them too, I think the lead singing is trying a little too hard to be like Jim Morrison...... Cool song and video

They've gone through a couple of break-ups and reunions. They toured this year. Supposedly an album due out in 2012.  :england:

Here some more to get your fix:

Definitely a little "poofy" at their height, but they sure could wail. Good driving music.

Ya he's kind of a mix between Jim Morrison , and Steve Tyler?

Wow, I never made the connection but he does have a sorta Steve Tyler look about him, even the moves.  With the short hair he does look like Jim Morrison!  :grinyes:

For the "Painted On My Heart Video" the lead singer sorta toned it down it seems.  Short hair, at least for him and not dancing around although it looks like he managed to throw in a few of his kicks.

I remember seeing him on the "She Sells Santuary" video years ago when it came out on MTv and thought he was a little flakey but I really do enjoy his style and the lead guitar player sound is really nice.

There is a Jim Morrison / Doors connection. From Wiki:

"In 1991, director Oliver Stone offered Astbury [The Cult lead singer] the role of Jim Morrison in Stone's film The Doors. He declined the role because he was not happy with the way Morrison was represented in the film, and the role was ultimately played by Val Kilmer."

"Astbury performed as a member of The Doors (later dubbed The Doors of the 21st Century, later still renamed D21c, and most recently known as Riders on the Storm) with two of the original members of that group. D21c was sued numerous times, both by Jim Morrison's family and by drummer John Densmore."

Wow, too bad he didn't take that role.  Could've given their band a lot of exposure, IMO.
