70 Cuda restoration ideas
« on: December 20, 2011 - 03:55:22 PM »
Looking for idea's for my matching numbers 383/auto, I do not have the fender tag or build sheets.

So I am think modding the 383 and going w4sp auto and leather seats (have these), but I think I want to go to 4 wheel disc brakes, upgraded suspension (not sure what) and some color paint, other than the the orginal yellow.

What options were available for a 70 Cuda, i.e. power windows, rear defroster, etc....

the obvious solution is to stroke the 383 with a 440 crank & rods up to 436 CI , it will look stock & have the torque of a 440 & rev faster with less rotating mass , 4 wheel disc is an easy upgrade . Suspension upgrades can be mild to wild , going to tublular front K frame & coil oversuspension & rack & pinion steering , rear suspension can be tubbed , back halved using ladderbars & coil over rear . Or you could just upgrade stock suspension with better control arms & leaf springs & shocks

No FT or BS?

FOrget the automatic; do a 5-speed conversion.

I'd go all out pro-touring if you have the $$$.   Alterkation R&P front end, DBs all around, 18s.

Ya, stroke the 383 so that it looks somewhat stockish under the hood.  Shaker hood.

Ya, do the PW, even AC (Vintage Air?), and paint it black w/a red hockey stick.  Painted hockey stick.  LIke Candy Red.

Will I have to change the heads?
