Bought my T/A in 1990. I'd have to say it's the longest.

When I was 14 I saw a white cuda with a black tailpanel that had a chrome emblem " 'cuda ". That would be 1978. Going through school I didn't think about it much cuz I didn't have money to buy a car anyway. Almost bought a Dart for $700 but came up $100 short, so no deal. Then in 1985 I was at my brother in laws house and saw he had an e-body in the back field. I asked him about it and he said he's had it sitting there for a couple years. Asked him what he wanted for it and he said "How about your 6mm Remington model 700?" I said 'sure'. (I paid $360 for it three years before) Made the deal the next day. Had it ever since. Painted the car white/black because I always thought e-bodies look best that way. I figure it's cuz of that 'cuda many years ago. Though they all look awesome.

Boughtmy '68 Dart in 1989, sold it in 1989 late, then bought back in 1990. Been through about 6 engines in that time. Tried like hell to sell it, but kept gettin' lawball offers. Been with me to this day and I can't help but think the "Car gods" were watchin' over my little Dart, as they knew I'd regret selling once gone.

Had my cuda for 35 years.  After blowing out the tranny it got parked in the garage for 21 years. I had it sold at one time. A guy caught me at just the right time when I was needing some money, we settled on a price, and he left to go get the cash,  and never came back.   Lucky me.  Then a few years ago I was on the computer surfing for ?  and I somehow wound up on this web site. Seeing all these E-bodies definately relight the fire in me.  Got the car running and back on the road that summer.  Of course one thing always leads to another, and after that I had to make it look good.  Ended back in the garage for two more summers.  Still got a ways to go but have been putting  the miles to it when ever I can.   So for all you guys that are working on your projects and it seems to be taking forever---Don't give up.  At least you own one.  Some times it just takes awhile.     :ylsuper:

Still own my T/A I bought as a stupid high school punk in late '78.  Although I own it, I haven't "had" it in many years, away at a restoration shop sitting around as a stripped shell with not much getting done, the all too often repeated restoration shop of horrors tale!  :pullinghair:
I now have 3 other Challengers residing in my 3 car garage so I'm not sure where to put it even if I got it back!  :clueless:

I'm surprised how many have had their Mopars so long.

Great stories everybody. Keep em coming.
Add some old pics from back then if you wish.

:iagree:  those 1:1 diecasts wouldn't be that much fun after awhile I wouldn't think?

I'm with you, for me the car is not alive until the motor is running and I get to drive it, that's where I get the most fun.  I'm glad there are people who enjoy collecting and showing their cars, and I can see how that can also be lots of fun, so more power to them.

I had a friend in high school with a beautiful 70 Road Runner in Vitamin C with a black vinyl top, go-wing spoiler, and black interior with console automatic & buckets.  Friday nights were usually cruise night with your buddies after school and then Saturday night was date night.  Somehow, we rarely took the RR on cruise nights, as he always kept it like it was going to a car show the next day and didn't want to get it dirty.  I don't think he ever had more fun than cleaning and waxing his 'Runner to spotless perfection inside and out on Saturdays.  I always washed and waxed my 70 Charger because I wanted it to look good, but for me the next step was always to immediately take it out cruising, rather than "protect" it from the elements and possible wear...

I totally agree with the "gotta drive it" sentiment! Otherwise, it's like having Megan Fox for a wife and never "driving" her. Pretty to look at, but MUCH better to get your hands on and feel moving underneath you; if that isn't too offensive to say.  :smokin:

Purchased my 66 Fury in 1978 for the astounding sum of $25. I t had belonged to a friend during our high school days and like most kids , he had pretty well abused it. After we had graduated , his family was moving out of state and did not want to take the car with him. It was really nothing more than a big old used Plymouth but it was a convertible and it could be had cheap, so what the heck. The motor was barely running, the interior shot, and the plastic rear window on the top was a memory. Over the next 30 plus years basically everything on the car has been repaired, rebuilt, or replaced. I have had it painted twice now. It is a Poly 318 with a column shift automatic, nothing really special but it is a nice cruiser. I have thought of selling over the years but knew I would never replace it if I did. Right now I look at it as inexpensive to keep and we have some fun with it. It has been to Carlisle 4 times and driven to Moparfest in Canada 3 or 4 times.
My Wife and I purchased our Challenger in 2004.

I`ve owned several mopars since 1990.  They never stayed more than a few years. I always knew I really wanted an E-body and finally bought my Cuda in 2006.  This one became part of the family... no family for sale here...  :grinno:

I have had my 69 fastback 18 years this coming May as I bought the car 2 weeks after I got married as a daily driver and it did just that duty for a few years. Now its a crossramed small block with a 4000 stall converter and a spooled 4:10 rear and will never be used as a daily driver again by me :burnout:

Bought my 70 Roadrunner in 74 six months before I turned 16, took my girlfriend now wife out on a date the same night I got my license (the night I learned not to race in the left lane on the street!) and its still in my garage today.  I won't be buried in it (wouldn't do that to the car) but its not going anywhere until I'm gone...
