What would a set of gilled fenders be worth?
« on: January 22, 2005 - 04:49:06 PM »
Say if a guy had a set of 72-74  Cuda Fenders that had been sent off and professionally die stamped with 71 gills to factory precise specs so that they would accept the Year One gill inserts. IF....a guy had a set of these, wonder how much they would be worth?  :dontknow:

Thats a tough call, because of the marker lite diff, they are unusable on a 71 to be correct. So from some people's perspective, punching gill openings in a set of 72-74 fenders would DECREASE their value. But if you wanted to make up a 72-4 with gilled fenders, well then that would be just the ticket for ya.
71 Gilled fenders, as we all know, are BIG $$, like 4k+ a set for nice ones. Nice 72-4 fenders go for $350-500 a piece. I'd say if I wanted to build such a gilled fender 72-4, i'd pay 400-600 a piece for them. Thats a total shot in the dark!   LOL

I would say they're worth about $800 or 900 dollars for the both.  I have been watching the prices of fenders for some time now!  Just my opinion though . . .

Im thinking of putting a set of gills in my 74 fenders. Just cuz they look soo awesome. who cares if its correct. neither are the billboards or the wing, but they are fun.
on top of the fender expense, the gills are expensive.
I do have a set of gills for my 71 i dont need for a couple years till its done, so thought i might put em in the 74.

I have a set of 70 fenders that could be stamped and they would be correct for 71 with the correct marker lights, might brng higher resale, if you use 71 or 70 fenders.

With all the things they do to fenders these days changing the marking light holes to look like '70 or '71
wouldn't be that hard

The gills would look pretty cool on any B'CUDA  but I like the '71 stuff on '71s only

Unless you are gonna build a clone....Then anything goes 8)
