True story From a Tacoma discussion board
« on: January 10, 2012 - 05:41:17 PM »
I'm considering getting a longbed Tacoma for my work truck, and recently ran across a post from a newbee asking for advice about the (non-functional) oem hood scoop, and if it adds any HP.
Didnt take more than one or two replies for someone to post a picture of a truck hood with a huge supercharger poking about a foot through the hood, with the comment "this is what you want on your hood if you want to add power"
The OP then asked

"How does that attach to the hood? Double sided tape?"

I almost fell off my couch.  :roflsmiley:

you guys are too much

Im sure not too many of us in here would be surprised to learn that there are a LOT of people out there that are NOT mechanically inclined.
That is to say, they wouldnt know what to do with a wrench.
As for my truck needs, I have an SRT-10 now with almost 50k miles on it, and I think its at a sweet spot now where I can still get good money for it, so I put it up for sale, and with the economy being what it is (Im a building contractor/property manager)
getting 9mpg on 93 octane is getting a little bit old, and my sons 5.7 2009 hemi Ram is only getting about 12.
I would be looking at a Dakota like I had 10 years ago, but dont like the current model at all. Besides, a guy I work a lot with runs a 2008 LB Tacoma V-6 and he loves it and gets 18mpg with my type of driving. Its not a particularly gutsy engine, but it is reliable.
Still looking and researching though.

Hmmm.  Actually that scoop is functional on the Tacoma (I got one).  It let's all kinds of dirt in to get all over your engine :)

Actually it's there to accommodate the trd super charger if you could afford it.

Third base?  Well I do have a wrench but not a supercharger.  I used to have a regular charger.  It wasn't anything special and used a lot of glue.  Does that count?  Wait, what where you guys talking about?

I pronounce their high performance arm of the company, "TiRD"  like "turd"... :poopoke:
