I found an old 2010 post about them but everyone said stay away.  I'd still like to run ceramics on the Challenger so I don't have to worry about brake dust.  I run 20" wheels on my Durango during the summer months and had a horrible time with dust.  I switched to ceramics and love them.  Absolutely NO brake dust.  My wheels stay looking great and braking is just as good as the old semi-metallic pads.  I have absolutely NO complaints.  Does anyone make a ceramic pad for an E-body?

I usually take the Durango to the Mopar Nats every year.  It's a 10 hour drive from Iowa to Ohio.  I'd have the Durango all washed up and looking nice for the trip.  By the time I would get to Ohio, the front wheels would be black.  With the ceramic pads, I can drive all weekend and the wheels still look like I just washed them.

They probably wear the rotors faster. At least that's the way my Mercedes works. But the brakes are great!

I've used to run kevlar pads on a souped up 300ZX (heavy car) and loved em. Never tried ceramic.

I think that was the aregument a several years ago against the semi-metallic/ceramic pads I heard from a guy that still had organic pads for these cars.  I think the '70-'71 and possibly some '72s have an expensive rotor configuation that makes one want to preserve them when possible.

Actually, after reading something on the internet (Everything on the internet is true, right?  :smilielol: )  some guy said it actually makes the rotor thicker by fractions of an inch...  :dunno:

"There isn't such a thing as 'ceramic compatible' rotors. There are two types of brake wear: abrasion and adherence. Metalic pads cause abrasive wear which decreases rotor thickness, whereas ceramic (usually mixed with a soft alloy like copper to distribute heat) causes a more adhesive 'wear' which actually increases rotor thickness. We're talking in the realm of a fractions of millimeters so this isn't a concern, which is the point. Any rotor will work with any type of pad. But as it turns out, modern Ceramic pads can actually increase the life of the rotor (reduced surface wear) and the pads typically last 30% longer."

Two things
RPM is supposed to work well at keeping brake dust from sticking to the wheels.
Ceramic pads last longer because they dissipate the heat better than organic or semi's,though
I personally call BS on the rotors getting thicker.
If I cant fix it, it's broke

Just to chime in here, I used to own an auto parts store. Ceramic pads are a very good product. Use them if they are available for your setup. I sold Wagner brand but I am sure all the major suppliers have them available. If you have a good old time parts store, with knowledgeable people behind the counter they can help you. Stay away from the box stores and look for someone that sells to proffesional installers. The reason you don't see as much brake dust with ceramic is because it is almost white.

 I switched mine last year from organic to ceramic and they seem to work well. Not sure about rotor wear yet but when the originals were turned (for the first time) very little material needing to be removed.

I just ordered a set of Powerstop drilled and slotted rotors and Evolution ceramic pads from Autoanything - free shipping too!
Rotors aren't available separately, but only as a kit.  :2cents:

Oh well. Just got an update from AutoAnything. The kit I ordered doesn't exist. They have changed their web page.  :pullinghair:

Where did you buy them?  I've been searching online and havn't found any yet.

 Mine are Bendix CQ part #D39. Bought them on eBay, I'll look for the receipt.

 By the way, the mechanic that turned my rotors owns a wheel and brake shop along with Q-milers and old Chevy's, he recommended the ceramic pads. :2cents:

Thanks for the part # LAA66.  :2thumbs: I think I'll pick those up to go with my new Baer (instead of power stop) drilled and slotted rotors.

Firm Feel has them listed on their site. Carbon Metallic pads for e bodies
