that cuda concept is ridiculously awesome! so dang cool... I would buy something like that in a heart beat! I love the new challenger but hey a smaller, lighter weight car retaining the same muscular look would be incredible (If I had the money)

I just read the article again:

"that a new lighter and more nimble platform would be a shorter rear-wheel-drive chassis something akin to a Hyundai Genesis coupe."

No where does it say other than a third party speculation with some one-off custom car that the new barracuda will look anything like the 1970-74 barracuda.  They have however suggested that the car has a good chance that it will not look retro.

Chysler sells a heck of a lot more new Chargers than the new Challengers.  Kind of makes me wonder if they might write it off as a failed experinent and make the new Barracuda look like any other modern car.

Mother Mopar surely won't miss the chance to make a really great car worthy of being called a Cuda will they?  If Chrysler is phasing out the Challenger, surely they will give this market segment what it wants.  "CHRYSLER "  we want a bad ass 426 Hemi Cuda with billboards, gills, and in as many of the heritage colors as possible!  You have to understand your company history well enough to understand what made this brand legendary.  Nobody is clamoring for a 67 barracuda fiat mesh turbo 4 banger.  This segment wants BIG Muscle to compete with Ford and their 650 horse powered pony.    :wavingflag: :wavingflag: :wavingflag: :ylsuper: :ylsuper: :ylsuper: :ylsuper: :wavingflag: :wavingflag: :wavingflag:

Somebody needs to photo chop the above inspiration to show how absolutely ridiculous calling something like that a Cuda would be.

I hope nobody thinks that I am saying that I want a modern looking car.  I hope that Chysler brings back the 'Cuda, and that it looks retro.  I just wanted to let you guys know what side I was on.

Totally agree with the above sentiment, IF they decide to bring back the Cuda/Barracuda they should do it right (Retro E Body look) or don't bring it back at all.  If its going to look like a rebadged FIAT what's the point?  Why harken back to Chrysler's best days with the Cuda name and then forget the past and go with a modern car with an old name on the badge....

Well they sure missed the mark with that thing they call the "Dart"...... I really hope they don't do that with the Cuda   :swear:

Interesting read, appearantly Dan Gurney now owns the trade mark rights to the Cuda car name?

 :rebel:

So now what ever they build will be badged a barracuda. I was hopping for a retool of the challenger but sadly they have no heartiage to follow. Maybe that's why they are starting with the a body look so they can grow the car over 15 years or so into the 71 form that everybody wants them to start with.  :dunno:

I have heard the same talk about the Cuda......heard it today!  The Cuda would be built on the same platform as the Challenger.

It would be awesome!

Probably  2014/2015 timeframe...

Going to have to start saving my nickels & dimes, cuz unless they make it ugly or way too expensive, I'm going to buy one!  Going to have to buy car stackers for the garage or another one out back, too.

I have a hard time believing that they'll make a cuda, why make a car so similar to the challenger? It would be nice to have both... like cheby has the corvette and camaro both 2 doors

I think the retro days are pretty much over, at least for this go-around.  Look how well the Camaro is selling, and I would hardly call it retro looking.  It has some retro touches, but overall is not.  I believe I read a few weeks ago that Ford will be revamping the Mustang, and moving past the retro look.  The timing, unfortunately, is probably perfect for Chrysler to kill off the Challenger, and bring in a more modern looking Cuda badged car to replace it.  I just don't see them building both at the same time.
