That is not entirely true...

The 6.1 was replaced by the 6.4 fairly recent, 2011 model year.  The 392 (6.4 litre) was available as a crate engine before it was in a production car.  The Generation III 426 Hemi engine is available as a Chrysler/Dodge crate engine now.  It is not completely unreasonable to believe in that trend.
.,
Can you order the Challenger with the 426 now? Or do you have to buy it with a 392 and replace the motor?
Either way, I don't own any of them so I'm going off what is advertised/written about the most I guess. It seems the Camaro and Mustang release packages with ever increasing levels of power and other tweaks while the Challenger development takes baby steps. If they are not investing as much time developing their existing platform, I would agree with Devil and the chance of them dividing their effort into two cars as pretty slim. Just my opinion though. Not too many facts to go on... ::)

Everybody talks about the top of the line HP cars like the Shelby and such but just like back in the day most of the cars sold are the lower level models.Unless I was rich and only wanted it for a "toy" I would be very happy with a new base v8 or even a v6 `cuda for a daily driver and could care less who makes the most powerfull car-that`s only for bragging rights.

If you want a new Gen III 426, you have to buy a crate engine and install it yourself.  Just like in 2010, if you wanted a new Gen III 392, you would have had to buy a crate engine and install it yourself.

I could be wrong because I really do not follow chevy and ford all that closely, but I am pretty sure that Chrysler makes the most horsepower in a normally aspirated engine available in a production car of those three.  That is a very big feather in their cap alone but there are rumors of Dodge working on a factory supercharger also.  I think that Chrysler/Dodge is alive and well in the Horsepower wars.

Hmmmmm.
After a little searching, I think my opinion was a little off the mark.

Hmmm..., Maybe a 4 door Cuda? Like what they did to the Charger? Just add some '71 style gills and it will all be good.

Here's a 70 somebody photochopped.

Guys,

Seriously!  Do you really think Chrysler is going to get out of having a strong presence among the muscle cars?  I mean they have a solid entry now with the Challenger.....and if you read/research you will find where they are developing stronger engines with 550+ horsepower!  Just because FIAT is partnered with Chrysler does not mean they will produce nothing but 4 bangers with 75HP.  I mean come on......

Look at the new Dodge Dart....I know it doesn't have a HEMI...but drop a new 4 Banger with the SRT package and you have an awesome car that is fun to drive (think about the Neon SRT4).

You guys just wait until you see the new DODGE VIPER!  Just wait.......

I have seen pics of the new Viper if the ones in the auto rag are real. It looks to me sorta like the old Venom concept car. Gonna have a V-10 again despite rumors of the huffed hemi. Looks to one up the GT 500 with an estimated 660+ hp.

Is that going to be on the Alfa or Fiat chassis?  :clueless:  Thanks!

Sounds to me like a variation on the existing platform. Says it will be slightly smaller exterior dimensions. Saving a few lbs. on frame by use of some aluminum instead of steel. 6 speed V-10 but also says a dual clutch 7 speed auto is in the works. Will have abs and traction control standard.

Hey Devil,

Check this out.....

http://wot.motortrend.com/chrysler-acquires-rights-cuda-20291.html

Hmmmmmm..........

LOL...Did you see that the article was from 2010?  They lost the claim on it when AAR fought it in court in 2011.

http://www.streetlegaltv.com/news/chrysler-turned-down-for-cuda-trademark/

You know it is funny, I was at the engine testing facility with the MoPowered Tour last year.  They do have some incredible engines coming up.

But there is NO Cuda coming out.

Chrysler isn't backing out of the Muscle Car segment, they just have to play it smart and get out the bread and butter cars first.  Aka the new Charger/300 on the Fiat platform and then come out with the new Challenger.

Can you elaborate on the upcoming new engines and give us the 411 or are you sworn to secrecy?
