Looks good.  I painted the interior, underside, engine bay, etc., in orfder to get some practice in before i attempted to paint the rest of the car. I learned a lot! if i had a couple thousand dollars extra, i would paint my car again. Have a few boo boo's, but what i learned was priceless. Lots of good posts on the subject and techniques. i would read them all ibefore i started painting the rest of your car.

Yeah for sure! I scuffed the epoxy primer under her last night and painted under the car. I left a piece of myself up there on the shop floor, as the car is on jack stands.. I'd turn the gun and a little paint would occasionally come out of the hole in the paint gun hopper thang... lol.. Then  I'd get my arm in it, and be painting, an then move and peel a layer of skin.. Crazy.

Looks good though; No runs, drips or sags and I think the coverage was good.

Now the humidity is coming up and it's raining, so likely no urethane-bugfogger-painting tonight, but other than really inspecting under there for any misses most of the bottom of the car is done. Well, still have to do back wheel wells, and under the trunk. At least I can move under there. :)

I may not in fact paint the exterior. Not sure yet, but am trying like mad to get the car done underneath and the running gear back under it...

Whew..

Also, managed to load the rear end with springs still attached into back of truck by myself yesterday and took it to the media blaster... that mofo was heavy.

Pictures later..

stay mopar my friends!

I'm taking the one fender that has two tiny pinholes to a friend who runs a machine shop. Hopefully he will be able to properly weld them up, so I can get busy putting the car together.

I guess I will owe him and his wife a dinner at the restaurant. Cool.. :)

Media Blaster just called. The rear end and springs have been blasted, primed and painted. He tried charging me 200.00 dollars, but I told him we had agreed to three hundred. Fair.

Going to pick it up on the way to the restaurant. They painted it black. That's fine, as I will detail paint it.

Pictures later.

Keep on Truckin'

Rear-End Blasted/Primed/Painted... Will detail springs etc before they go under the car.
I'm not rebuilding the rear-end. The gears and everything were great..

Pinholes in fender welded:
FREE..and it took him 5 minutes.

It's too cold to paint tonight. The temps I have been shooting at have been in  the 50's to low 60's. Even with fast activator  I don't feel comfortable tonight, so we wait. Maybe by Monday it will warm. I did prep the rest of the underbody for paint, and will vacuum the trunk and make sure everything looks okay and is clean before i shoot it. Wheel wells look good I reckon..

It's just a car. Nothing can be done that can't be undone.

Stay MOPAR my  friends.

Dusty, even though your buddy welded those holes up in 5 minutes, take another look at that fender, please. In the photo, I see pits that in 6 months, will be new holes and that won't make you happy. Cut the bottom 5-6"s of that fender out and have your bud spend an hour welding it back in. In the long run, you'll be happier, believe me. You've put too much work into that thing to bubble-gum it now.  :2cents:

If he the prep area was lightly sanblasted then phophate metal cleaned really well, then he should be fine.
Pitted metal is not the end of the world.  :2cents:

Thanks for all the information guys. I'm not going to bubble gum it by any stretch of the means, but I think that the metal will be okay. The fender was media blasted and cleaned/primed and then the pinholes were welded. I believe that with thorough prep work any pitting can be stopped in their tracks, and some quality glazing putty will be as good as hacking on the fender to  replace the metal.

Man, I may have to slow down on on spending $$.. I'm running out of dough.. lol

I've had to prep and fix a few areas on the passenger side inner rear-quarter area. Nothing big really, a bit of icing there... sanding etc..

Hopefully today I will get it re-primed and the rest of the underbody painted.

And for everyone that hates bondo.... We pulled a huge chunk out of the front fender and there was zero rust behind it. Zero.. The bondo had been there since at least '82.. In fact it looked better behind the bondo than the rest of the fender!!!!!!!!!!!!

So don't hate on me for not welding everylittle thing, and hacking out every little pinhole. The car has been sandblasted, and all rust has been stopped. ;)

I painted the roof, pillars, trunk, and door jambs today.,

On Monday I coated the inside of the fenders with bed liner as this will be a driver and the stuff is super tough.

The doors are going for media blasting next week, and the front bumper brackets and hood are at the media blasters right now...

Small steps!
