got "hosed" on some gauges
« on: January 12, 2012 - 07:30:46 PM »
Well, I thought i would buy myself a rallye cluster for christmas from e-bay ! It came today and I really can not believe this show quality unit. first of all ad said show quality,The lense is cracked in front of clock, tach is crooked, speedo mileage is yellowed, no light tubes , turn indicators are fubared, chrome knobs are peeling. Looks as if I got a re-stickered and needles painted by helen keller for $1400.00  I feel sick!!!!!!!!  These are probably ok for a 10k driver but that is not what I am building.

Complain to E-bay.  They have a dispute resolution center.  Good luck.

"usraptr" = United States raptor - bird of prey = United States Bald Eagle.  FYI, somebody else thought of it first so I had to drop the "O" in raptor.

Absolutely complain.  Those are worth maybe $400 as is, and most likely none of them even work.

I agree file a complaint! You only have a limited time to do so as well.

That sucks!  Pretty crappy looking unit for "show" quality.

BTW, the yellow numbers are they way they are suppose to look as they turn that color to show you the number has been turned over.  That way they didn't need 6 digits.  You can always tell a 24,000 mile car vs. a 124,000 mile car.  You can see the same numbers for the trip tach does not change to yellow with UV light.
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

Complain for sure, can you post the seller ID so others can be warned?

cool onfo about the yellowing of the numbers! and to answer about posting the sellers name,I will not do anything until I have an answer from him , If it gets ugly I will post the $%@# out of his name!!!!!  If I am stuck with this crap then I will need some more parts thats for sure. I just want to have rally gauges, for 800 I can do an autometer set-up , But the rally stuff just rocks! Kinda funny that my wife does not know what she is looking at but in dim light I showed her the cluster and she said eww! And that was before I even said I was not pleased.

You can get the green / red signal lens lenses inserts cheap for the cluster at Classic industries. I thought mine were missing but when we pulled the dash apart they were in it. Guages can be replaced or fixed. Sorry to here you paid for a restored but got a project clusturd.

If you paid with Paypal you can file a dispute (goods not as described).   They are usually on the side of the buyer (unless it's a car).

Definately file with eBay and Paypal. I am a regular seller on eBay and I am here to tell you they side with the buyer most of the time, even if it is wrong :swear:. If he said show quality he needs to refund your money or let ebay do it for him.

Wasn't there a picture in the original auction listing?
