i am trying to do some research about my 1970 challenger. and i was wondering about the center console. what is the difference between the automatic console and the standard shift console? can i use a automatic console for a manual shift tranny?

The shifter hole is a different size, with the manual hole being larger. They make a template to cut an auto into a manual and I think some members here have done so.
This might be helpful as it shows some pictures comparing the two:

The bottom of the console, where it meets the floor is different. And auto will not sit on a manual floor hump and must be cut. I'd imagine that a foot speed console would have trouble on a not manual floor but I'm not sure.
