Here it is, folks!!
For FOUR YEARS now, my wife and I have provided lunch for the club at the club-tent at Carlisle on Saturday. It's been a great opportunity for everyone to gather, meet, share stories, parts, advice, and more!
As my cooking repertoire has improved over the years, I've decided this year to let the club vote for what it'd like us to prepare! So without further delay, here are the menu options!
Grilled Sausages with Peppers and Onions, Cheese and Marinara Sauce: We actually did this for lunch in 2009 and 2010, and it was a big hit. Both sweet and hot sausages will be available, with buns, marinara sauce (new for 2012!) and a variety of cheeses to suit your tastes!
Chicken Cheesesteaks with Grilled Vegetables: This item debuted in 2011 after I couldn't find a single chicken cheesesteak on the fairgrounds in 2010! I vowed to make my own and I did!! They're made with ground chicken (the best option for an outdoor cookout), a variety of cheeses, and grilled onions, peppers, and sweet peppers.
Taco Bar with homemade Salsa and Mexican Rice: This was actually suggested by 4Cruizn, and I think would be a viable option for the show! It would include shredded beef, hard and soft taco shells, toppings to include (but not limited to!) shredded lettuce, tomato, onions, sour cream, and cheeses. I'd also bring my Dad's AWESOME homemade Salsa, and cooked mexican rice.
Louisana Boil with Sausage, Shrimp, Corn and Potatoes: This idea came to me recently after I purchased a huge turkey fryer pot for beer making. I'd have to make sure the heat could go low enough, but I'd toss in some sausage, shrimp ('cause not everyone likes crawfish, and they're not exactly cheap), corn-on-the-cob, potatoes, some good ol' Creole seasoning, and whatever else we feel like tossing in!
I'd also like to point out that while we served homemade burgers for the club in 2008, it was relatively easy to prepare with the fact that we lived in the area and stayed up past midnight the night before forming and individually wrapping burger patties! With us being "visitors" now, it's really not a feasible option, unfortunately.
So there you have it. Cast your vote now, and whatever is winning by May 1st will be prepared for lunch on Saturday!
