Another what is it?
« on: January 20, 2012 - 11:03:06 AM »
You guys helped me figure out a tail light set and a grille.  Now I have a head question.  Does anyone know what it i?  There are no casting numbers on it.  It came with a bunch of Mopar parts when I did a machine shop buy out.   It may not be automotive.  I found some tractor parts in the bunch already.  Thanks,
Tod

With the intake and exhaust ports on the same side, it's got to be a 4 cylinder head......................... looks like Chevy?

I found a list of applications for the GM Iron Duke 2.5.  Is that what this head is off of?  The Iron Duke?

The "iron duke" was a term given to the old "60's" engines. This looks like a mid eighties fwd version.
If you have a casting # I might be able to narrow down the year. But that won't tell what kind of car.
If I cant fix it, it's broke

:screwy: I THOUGHT GM ALSO.I sell parts for gm so i'm trying to id the head.I checked the 2.5 82-87 and the port patterns are totally different.also the int and exhaust are on opposite side of the heads.

i'll do some more digging here at work as time allows.

  Dave................. :working:

:thinkerg: Do you have another pic of the non port side, also if it's a GM head, it should have a casting number somewhere on it.

It's definitely a GM. You can tell by the shells over the springs.

I wonder if it's for that old pontiac tempest that Cooter posted awhile back. Can say I'm up on 4 cylinders esp with a cast iron head? :clueless:

Boat Anchor.   :naughty:
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.
