Is This For Real?
« on: January 28, 2012 - 01:20:23 AM »
This Challenger is for sale on ebay and advertised as a 2012 Dodge Challenger R/T w/SWR Package.
Did some "wing nut" ( pardon the pun ) just add this wing and called it SWR or has some aftermarket company started shipping these out as limited units?
I've seen some of the other Challengers converted over to winged cars and most didn't look too bad, but this one just doesn't look right.  :eek7:

Here is the ebay link... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Dodge-Challenger-R-T-w-SWR-P-12-DODGE-CHALLENGER-R-T-DAYTONA-SPOILER-LEATHER-free-delivery-airfare-/390385752076?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item5ae4cdd80c

That car would look bad to the bone WITHOUT the wing. The wing just doesn't look good on that car. I've not seen this package you describe. Maybe a gull wing might look pretty good!  :2thumbs:

The guy that made it I think owns a Dodge/Jeep/Chrysler dealership and is making these cars.  I think the "SWR" moniker is his own creation, sorta like how in the 60s'70s they had Mr. Norms stuff, or Yenko Camaros I think... I don't think the SWR thing i a direct offering from  Dodge.  They were even contemplating putting the Superbird nose cone.

I recall reading an earlier post here on c-c.com that the Winged Challengers were coming.  Guess they are here!  I would think the Wing would improve track performance---- does anyone have any data on Stock vs Wing track performance?

I think these wings looked great on the Dodge Daytona and Plymouth Superbirds. However, it looks a little to "Bat Mobile" for me on the new Challenger. I have a 2011 Rallye Challenger and I just cant see myself adding a wing like that.  :2cents:

Thanks Phil for that link.  That helps explain the car and wing.  I hope he doesn't loose too much money when they sell it.

I do like the Trans Am make overs, those are cool.  The Superbird Chalengers are still up in the air for me...

I like the petty tribute car.  It would be hard for me to be seen in it at anything but a car show.  Still it would get a lot of attention.  That is if it really got built...
