Do you have the build sheet?

That might shed some answers on the vo8.

No i don't... that's why i'm searching for those answers but i had an answer from Barry Washington :

"V08 was used for non-recommended color / trim combinations and FY1 & V1G was fine according to the trim book. But, the trim books were printed prior to the start of the model year & were subject to edits. I do not have all the edits or one that mentions this change yet. I am also aware of two other 1970 model year cars that have the FY1 V1G codes & both of them also show V08. One is a Cuda 340 & the other is a Challenger R/T SE with the 383."

So it's sound like that color with the vinyl top wasn't meant to be at the beginning, but was fine for the LA plant, i guess. It's what Russ wrote earlier.

Odds are against finding a build sheet. Apparently LA had a "no paper" policy so build-sheets were discarded rather than put in the car. You'll find, comparative to Hamtramck cars, very few LA cars have build sheets.

Still wouldn't hurt to look though :)

Yeah that's definitely the feeling I'm getting. The recommendations were revised at some point.

The mfg plant has nothing to do with it.

Like I have said before, red had two fender tags. She came from LA, and yes, the vinyl top code was printed twice...

Looks good. My car is supposed to be gator grain but now only plain vinyl. What is the color of the top? It appears to be a brownish color. Where did you get it.

Thanks,

Michael

Yes it is brown and the vinyl top come from Legendary auto interiors. They are the only one to have the good vinyl to do it! And make sure when you install it to know what you do, it's a very expensive option theses days!!!
