Instead of getting a custom plate, I'm going to use a "year of manufacturer" plate.  I've got two sets of 1972 Iowa plates.  One set is most likely my cars original set of plates.  You can run old plates in Iowa as long as you keep the new plates inside the car somewhere.

I bought a set of Texas 1970 plates off eBay, like the old look best! Not a fan of the custom really but think some are cool

I did that on my old 69 Valiant and 65 Sattelite.  I liked the look.

:iagree:  I paid a one time fee of $35 in 1998 when my car turned 25 years old.  As long as I own my cuda I NEVER have to renew my plate, it never expires.  And it is my original plate from 1973 which makes it even better!

I have a "Collector Vehicle" plate for mine, which will never need renewal.  Also no requirement for a front plate (they only issue a rear plate).

Both my Challengers are registered with the same number.  I got a low number "year of manufacture" plate on the 72.  I requested and was granted the same exact number as a "reserve" plate for the 12.
Yes I own a 1972 Dodge Challenger Convertible T/A S/E with a 440 Six Pak. Can it get any more wrong?
