Pedal Assembly

So when I bought my 70 challenger It had a 727 in it but had a manual brake pedal assembly, the clutch pedal had been removed (I actually found it one day under the carpet).  It has the smaller manual transmission brake pedal and I want to swap it with the wider automatic one.  Am I right to assume that I can just remove the manual pedal and bolt on the automatic? Or will they not interchange? In other words, will an automatic pedal bolt to a manual pedal assembly with out issues? Hope that makes some sense, thanks

I'd happily switch pedal assemblies with you if you'd like, I'm converting my Challenger over to a 4 speed from an automatic. As far as whether or not they will just exchange pedals, I'm not 100% sure. I think you could just switch brake pedals, I think there's a few more pieces in the pedal assembly to add the clutch though.

I may have to take you up on that... Im just afraid to send you mine and then get yours and It doesn't fit... If that were the case I'd be pedal-less. hmm.. I'll see if anyone can confirm first

My car was originally an automatic.  I bought the pedals and the side cage that supports the clutch pedal from a 71 B-body and everything bolted right to the support brackets under the dash.  The 4 speed brake pedal mounted the same as the automatic brake pedal.  I would have to dig thru my spare parts, but I think I still have my 70 pedal as well as one from my 73 parts car. If the swap with 72bluNblu doesnt work out, let me know and I can mail one to you.

They swap no problems. Have switched mine back and forth five times.

Awesome you guys know more than I do thats for sure... thanks for the help, I actually just bought an automatic pedal from challenger6pak... so the trade won't work out I'm afraid.

but 72bluNblu since you commented first I'd be happy to sell you my manual brake pedal still If you want it for your conversion... You'd have to wait till I receive my new one though. I will say the pad is worn to crap but the pedal itself is in great shape, O.W. anyone else can buy it from me if interested

I've been looking for a set too.  Keep getting out bid on ebay.    Brewer sells the pedals for 239,  so I won't bid that high on used stuff.  Not trying to keep my car original anyway.     Interesting the B body pedals will fit,  I'm going to look into that

I bought my B-body pedals about a year ago on Ebay for $50 plus shipping.  No one else bid so I assumed they were under the radar because they were listed for a Coronet.  If you score a set, you will only use the 2 pedals and the side cage (and the spring and pin if using original clutch linkage).  The main steering column/pedal support is specific to the E-body.  One other thing to note is that my pedals do not appear correct in that the "arm" is shaped different than what an 70 E-body would have been.  My car is far from original so that didn't matter to me.  If it does to you, you will need to do some research on which years have the same appearance.

The arm being different doesn't bother me.    I have the bracket,  car is a 318 auto,  switching to 440  , Viper 6 speed,   Trying to keep it under 20K by the time I'm done,  doing everything myself

I'm not in a hurry, not quite ready to do my conversion yet anyway. I'd be interested in the brake pedal though, and the clutch pedal and clutch pedal support if you have or can find either of those. Shoot me a PM when the parts are available.  :2thumbs:
