I think so.  I even think 16's look good, but I probably wouldn't go any bigger than that.  15"-16" is my range.

I've got 14s on front and 15s on back, it isn't that bad honestly... I plan on swapping them out though if I can ever find someone to trade me 15s for them

Yes, I think they look out of place.  Most of it has to do with the unattractive 72-74 center caps.  The Road Wheels look so much better IMO.

The data book is worded a little strange.  Were 14" Rallye's available on an E-body in 70 and 71?  I thought only the 72-74's had 14" Rallye's.

They look fine to me. The problem is tire selection. You can't really buy any good tires. Just mediocre ones.

IMO, I think the 14" Rallyes look too small.  Aside from the '72-'74 center caps, the 14" Rallyes don't appear to have as much dish to them.  The 15" Rallyes have a little more deep dish to them.

I have the 14" Magnums and at certain angles even those look a bit small but it also depends on the size tires.  Out fron I have 215/70-14 and they look a wee small at certain angles.  Out back I have 225/70-14 tires and they have a little more meat and look a bit better.  Not sure how that size would look up fron though.

I had 14s on mine at first, they aren't too bad on an A-body...but I think they are too small on an E.

225-70's on the road wheels is a good looking combo.  I had that on mine back in the 90's.

I believe the 14" rallyes on the E-bodies were only 5.5" wide.  The A-body wheels were 6" wide.  Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Definatly an oldschool look , as stated above no good tires available anymore , 15-17 " look better , 17 offering far better tire choices as well

14's were standard on all the E body cars (except special order) other than hemi's or 440+6 which got the F60-15 goodyear polyglas. I would upgrade though because they do look small and tire selection. Order a set from vintage wheels in whatever width you want and they include center cap options (71 look the best) and trim rings.

Super Blue, you like that tire combo? Just wondering, my ride needs some new shoes

That's the combo I used just because I just so happened to have those size tires lying around.  I think that if I stick with 14" rims I would stay with this combo, only to keep the factory Magnum 500 rims though.  I also have a set of slotted 14" rims I might swap the tires onto but the slotted rims are wider so technically I could fit a wider tire.  15" slotted rims are nice but harder to find at areasonable price.  Also the 14" look good with some meat on them.

The deal is with the 14" rims is that they are only like 6" wide I think for the Magnum 500s so not only the rim diameter limits what size tire you can fit but also the rim width.  I think I could safely fit a 235/60-14 but it would be slightly shorter and wider, which is ok and might aid acceleration a tad, but as mentioned I had these tires lying around so I just used what I had.

Keep in mind that the 15" tires (for the same type tire) will probably handle better than the 14" tires as they will have less side wall deflection.  :2cents:  My car is not on the road but I took it around the block on the 14" Magnums and it wallowed in the corners.

The build sheet for one on my 70 R/T's shows that it came with 14 inch rallyes and white wall tires.

71 340 R/T's also got 15 inch rallyes when rallyes were ordered with the car.  I have no idea why.

My build sheet for my 71 340 RT Challenger shows it came with 14 inch rallye wheels and has always had them on it.

My 73 Barracuda still had the original 14x5.5" rallyes & may-pop tires on it when I got it.  The first $$ I spent on it were larger 15x7 rallyes on front, 15x8 on the back.  Changed the whole look of the car for the better.  I wish more performance tires were available for the 15", but I like the old school look so I'm sticking with the 15's at least for now.  I kept the original wheels, but don't see myself ever putting back on again.
