Parking brake Parts
« on: February 02, 2012 - 11:24:17 AM »
So I am replacing all the Rear drum brake pieces, and the parking brake pieces.  I can not find a place to get the Parking brake actuator lever or the strut that goes between the shoes.  Does any one know where to get these pieces.  Also If i am starting from scratch does it mater what style parking brake cable I use and which is better?
Thanks, Steve

1970 used a unique parking brake setup.  71-74 used the same style.  Your car will have brackets welded to the frame rails for the 71-74 style cables.  That's what I'd use.  You'd have to add another bracket to the floorpan in order to install the 1970 style cables.

What piece are you talking about...Parking brake actuator lever?  The part that the cable clips too...it mounts behind one of the shoes?

You should be able to find what you need at a salvage yard.  I would imagine that late B-bodies, M and J bodies would have the same brake parts.
