Carlisle Hotel Rooms are READY!! Come 'n Get 'Em!!!
« on: February 06, 2012 - 03:19:15 PM »
We have a block of rooms reserved at the Radisson Hotel Harrisburg, located in Camp Hill, PA.

For those who stayed in the club hotel last year, this hotel is basically the same distance from the fairgrounds.

The rate is $109 a night for either a single king or two queen beds.  (As far as other arrangements ie fold-out beds, discuss with them when you call).

Number to call is 717-763-7117.  Tell them you're with "Cuda Challenger dot com".

Let me know if there are any issues with this reservation!

Directions and local landmarks will be provided shortly.

We'll see you at Carlisle this year!!!

I'll go first...   :scared:

All those years we stayed at the Low-Quality-Inn, they never offered much at their continental breakfast. Coffee, juice and pastries were about it. I would hit up that eatery just inside gate #3 and to the left at the fairgrounds.(It was called morning ... my memory fails me right now). At least I got food that stuck to my ribs at a decent price. So no continental breakfast is not a deal breaker for me. Huge parking lot, and we can have our own area is nice. Within walking distance to Saturday's dinner. It gets my vote.

Morning Cafe or Morning Star Cafe?  Is that the one right behind the car-wash area on the grounds?  I hit that place up twice last year (since I booked a hotel with no breakfast :P) and was shocked at how good it was!  Steak and Eggs for like, 6 bucks and it was better steak than Waffle House gives ya...

I'll be THERE every morning this year.  :)

Yeah, that's the place. I think it was a little further to the left than the car wash station, but we are definitely talking about the same place.

Oh, and the coffee was hot!   :jumping:

I'll go with what ever everyone else wants? I do like driving my car to the dinner though. Just looks cool all of us lined up in a row! ( and I can keep an eye on it?)

It would be nice to be closer to the main "strip" than we were last year as there wasn`t a lot of stores/restaurants close by.Don`t care if they have a Conti breakfast or not as they are usually pretty lame anyway.I`m thinking the Ramada.  :dunno:

You're doing all the work, so whatever you decide is good with me... and I'll be very happy with whatever you decide.  Thanks for taking this on and I look forward to tilting a few back with ya again this year.

ViperMan is this the Ramada.

Yeah that's it.  However a fellow member kinda talked me out of the idea of trying to manage a bunch of reservations myself.  In the end I'd probably get stuck paying for some rooms that don't get used, and it'll be a pain.

The Radisson still isn't far from Carlisle Pike and "the strip."  It may not be as close as the Ramada, but you'll pass everything you need on the way there.

I'm home sick today - just getting some rest.  I'll get back to it tomorrow and get everything finalized.

The way I see it, I'm there for a CAR show.  Driving around is half the fun.  Anyone who doesn't feel like taking their baby out to dinner or cruise is welcome to pile into the FrankenChallenger with me.

Viperman, good job doing the legwork.  I agree it's not wise to take on the responsibility of booking so many rooms yourself.  You DON'T want to get stuck with that!  Whatever makes the most financial/logistical sense is good enough for me.  Anything beats sleeping in the backseat of a Challenger...
Yes I own a 1972 Dodge Challenger Convertible T/A S/E with a 440 Six Pak. Can it get any more wrong?

Truthfully, sleeping on the pavement might be more comfortable than that.    :22yikes:

Never spent the night in my Challenger, but I did sleep across the front console of my 69 Satellite once. not very well, mind you.

I appreciate all the feedback, guys.

I'm going to go with MEK's suggestion (and a few others here,) and stick with our block at the Radisson.

I ask that you trust me this go-around.  I think the pricing is fair (for a block - I'm sure folks can get better prices if they shop themselves for individual rooms.)  But most importantly, the location is ideal.  This place will allow us plenty of room to break out the lawn chairs and coolers, kick back with our favorite muscle-car backdrop, and just enjoy some CC.C comradery in the evenings.  Last year this never really got to materialize in the crowded Mariott parking lot, and I felt like a lot of people missed out on an experience that I've coveted since 2007.

And I've also kinda gotta agree with Hey-zeus up there, (lol), that if you're only driving 3-4 miles from the fairgrounds to the hotel, what fun is that?!  I remember in 2007 leading a LONG line of e-bodies to the club dinner on Saturday evening up I-81 - took the LONG route...  I'll bet my wife remembers just how giddy I was - like a ditzy teenage girl at a Justin Bieber concert!

So let's give this one a chance.  If we end up not liking it so much, then I'll book the Ramada for 2013 in like, August of this year...  :)  Deal?

And as far as breakfast goes, ViperGal and I are trying to figure out how to provide some cupcakes and coffee at the tent in the mornings to sorta help out.
