Phil, what's a his n hers shifter?

It was a factory Hurst offering in some GMs in the 60's and early 70's.  Looked like the pic below.  It was like a regular auto console shifter but if you wanted to race when in the "D" position, if you pushed it to the right the shifter was forced to travel through the detents in the shfter bezel so you don't up shift by accident.  "Hers" was the straight up and down method, "His" was through the right side of the shifter.

I think it was the stock shifter for this car although it wasn't  GTO, from what I was told by a GTO guy, it was a car ordered by a guy who didn't want a GTO but wanted a well optioned car 1 level below a GTO so it had some interesting options.

Ad for the His N Hers shifter:
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

For me, it was my 67 Valiant 100, 2 door post, originally a 273 power pack car with an 833 and a 3:91 Suregrip 8.75 that I put a 68 GTS 340 into. The only thing that ever beat it was a 67 Fairlane 427 8bbl 4 speed and that was only by a fender. Sigh.... :(
PS- I paid $700 for it  :crying:

I've only had one classic that ever ran lol, and I didn't keep it long. 72 Camaro with a 454 and 4 speed.

Wouldn't mind having it back, but not really missing it. Had a dodge magnum with the 5.7 hemi that I absolutely loved, too bad it kept breaking (if it hadn't had so many problems I never would have sold it).

I miss my old 350z sometimes. Had a twin turbo kit for that, that I never got around to installing. 500 hp in that thing would've definitely been an experience.

The car I would have to say I miss the most. Is my current project car lol. 72 cuda. Maybe miss is the wrong word, but I am certainly longing to get it finished and finally drive it.
Cuda is gone :(

My HS car was a 1970 Challenger, 440+6 R/T hood, 4spd Dana 4.10
Purchased from 1st owner with my dad when I was 15 years old.
It was a factory blue car, but I did the Vanishing Point white to it when we repainted it.

There were a whole lot of "firsts" that happened in that car...

It ran me ragged - ate all my gas money (thank god gas was $.55 per gallon) but I loved that car.

It took me 30 years to get it back --   but it was so worth it.
I still get a   sh#t eating grin everytime I get in the one I have now.....
