CUDA CHALLENGER DEFROST SWITCH PANEL RETAINER BRACKET
« on: February 09, 2012 - 05:43:42 PM »
Hi All-
Need your expertise once again.  I was cruising eBay and came across this, a defrost switch panel retainer bracket for E-Bodies.  Well, I looked at the handful of diagrams that I have and none of them show this bracket.

Is this bracket necessary?
Where does it go?

It's listed for $12, not bad, I guess.

Thanks
Ron

It goes from the rear of the defrost panel assy down and towards the rear of the car to meet up with the bottom of the dash frame. The end with the 45* notch attaches to the defrost assy.

That should be the easiest bracket in the world to make.  I wouldn't pay $12 for it unless I HAD to have a factory correct part.

You can see it here in this pic.  It helps support the back of the panel.

Must be common for that to get removed and not replaced, never seen that before.

The 1 in first pic doesn't seem to look like the 2nd pic?  I see a small tab connected to the panel?

Crap, something else I'm missing!

Morning All-
Thank you very much for the quick and very informative response. :2thumbs:
My B'Cuda is no where near original, so I'll build my own bracket.

BTW - Burdar, that's one very clean back-of-dash, not one speck of dust.  Very nice. :worshippy

Thanks again

I found that bracket in a pile of parts and had no idea what it went to.  Just by chance, I saw a picture of a dash assembly upside down on a bench.  I saw that bracket and instantly knew what it was.  I was in the middle of my dash restoration at the time so it couldn't have been timed any better.
