coolant overflow bottle

i been looking for a 1970 dodge challenger overflow bottle and i cant find one. does anyone know where i can buy one?? or does the 1970 even have one? i find them for 73-74 but not 70

They certainly weren't standard in 70. If available at all, it would have been part of a heavy duty cooling package. I'm sure someone else will chime in with more detail.

I know the repro kits list them as being 73 and 74.  As far as I know, they were only available in 74.  I've never seen one on a 73.  If they were available in 73, it must have been a very late introduction.

70-73 just dumped the coolant out onto the ground.

But a few people have custom fitted overflow bottles from various junkyard donors, unless originality is a concern.

Here is mine in a 70 Barracuda.  I am not sure if the Challenger looked the same.  I can take some measurments if you need.

That's the washer fluid reservoir....not the coolant overflow bottle.  Something like that could be converted for coolant use though.  Not many people would realise its new purpose.  The engine comp would look mostly stock too.

Here's mine. 

Water bottle and some zip ties.  Works well for the occasional overflow.

72 B-bodies got them as part of the HD cooling package. They mounted on the driver side. Reproductions are available, but very pricey. I'm sure one could easily be retrofitted to an E-body.

Standard cooling cars did not get them. Not sure about prior years, or E-bodies.

I need to spend a day in the salvage yard looking for an OEM bottle that would fit and look factory correct at a glance.

Yes, I didn't scroll the picture over.  I just saw the washer bottle the first time I looked at the picture.  I still think using a washer bottle as a coolant tank would be a neat idea.  I know some people hide electronics in the bottles...how many people accually use the washer bottle for its intended purpose?

Probably not many. I actually have never put mine back in since the resto.
