i have been thinking of buying one but with 2 small kids in the house, i wouldnt want one  to to get ahold of it.you hear about this all the time when mom or dad is at work and the kids get ahold of one and someone ends up shot or dead.even if you lock it up sometimes

have 3 kids, bought the first one when they where small about 5. they need to be taught, the guns need to be locked up, when they get older they learn, my kids are now 17 n 14x2 and they are good about them. i go through exercises with them on loaded or not and respect it, it is not a toy.

  good advice! I used to go so far as to remove the firing pins and store the ammo in a seperate locked box.

its a tuff call,i see they have gun locks now can a kid get one off if they wanted to.its really a shame that you feel that you need one or have to have one at all,it really is sad

I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy....

With the current economy breeding more criminals who think nothing of robbing people or their homes to supply their needs...
With the current 'justice' system that places more value on the criminals' "troubled past" than the havoc they raise on a law
abiding in society....
With the current politicians who believe gun laws make people safe when instead they make it safer for the criminal....

That's why people 'need' guns. Its not a constitutional issue, its a life support issue.

And even if we all lived in the Garden of Eden, you'd still have to shoot the snakes.

trigger locks are useless, they can come off, cable locks are a little better, i use lockage/keyed fire boxes. I carry just about everyday, kids know i do and it is just a normal thing, the more you hide it from them the more they will want to know, then its trouble. kids and people get hurt or killed from carelessness. just because you hid it doesnt mean someone else cant find it. then what. its not the guns fault. 

more people die everyear from doctor or medical errors then guns.

i would rather protect my family and have a chance then none at all, with the laws changed here in Michigan you dont have to retreat you can fight force with force when faced with it. the old fact of make sure you shoot them inside the house  and if outside drag them back in is gone.

I am willing to bet that this kind of press is supplied by anti-gun groups, chuck schumer and george soros kind of organizations. Yah, we even hear of them up here in 
Just making the statement above, you show you are a conscientious parent and will likely find out what it takes to secure your firearms from young children.  Like it or not, the police cannot protect/save you. They cannot be everywhere all of the time. You need to be able to defend yourself. Doesn't mean you HAVE to buy a gun, but it is an option.
If you feel you need/want to have a gun for protecting your family, don't be swayed by anti-gun groups and lobbyists that will try to tell you owning a gun is dangerous. It is a responsibility to take seriously, but with a little common sense and education, not dangerous.  I own 73 rifles, 27 handguns, and one restricted rifle (AR-15). All safely stored when not in use.  No people harmed, just a few bears, moose, deer, duck, grouse, wolves, and geese. No mountain lion yet Josh.....

You guys in the 'States don't know how good you've got it, when it comes to firearms. With the current legislation in Canada, if the police SUSPECT you may have a gun, they can enter your home without a warrant and seize any guns even though you haven't done ANYTHING, you will have no recourse and no compensation, either. There is a guy, right now, on trial, who while having his home attacked by 3 masked assailants throwing Molotov cocktails into his house, got out a pistol and fired 3 shots into the air. He is currently on trial for improper storage of a firearm and is liable to a 2 year sentence if convicted! The firebombers were only charged with arson, not attempted murder. The current government is in the process of dismantling the 2 billion dollar long gun registry and hopefully, some of the assinine laws that came in with it. Support your NRA and the politicians who are with you or you could end up like us.

I think we are heading there anyway and will eventually have to cross the deleware again!! If and when the people get sick of all the horsehunch that is going on. Seems judges are more and more advocating for Political groups, Politicians are writing more laws than we can keep track off, hell I bet most people in this country are breaking some law that they are not even aware of. There has beed something like 100,000 new laws put on the books since 1995. Not to mention we have insane politicians spending like there is no tomorrow, Iranian terrorist Muslims seeking nukes to attack us with, nothing being done about it , Leftist Political groups seeking the overthrow of our system, unvetted government employees, The list of endless of problems and they are getting worse the sad thing is that some people want this to happen, don't mind screwing with millions of people lives and there lies the evil in it. I am just happy im in a good place now most of us may not be in a few years.

There were always guns in the house when I was growing up, and we never had a problem with them. My 2 nieces have grown up in a house with guns in it, and we are just starting to teach my 7 yr old niece how to shoot. She is very careful around guns and never bothers with them unless one of us takes it out of the safe and takes her someplace to go shooting. And even then only when we are supervising her.

My wife grew up with guns in the house as well. And we have a safe full now too. No kids, but if we had some I wouldn't consider it an excuse to get rid of all my guns. Just keep them locked up where the kids couldn't get to them even if they wanted to.

Well, I don't think it matters if I say how many guns I have, the government has paperwork on all of them, so they know I have them. As for searching your house, they can't enter without a warrant, at least 24 hrs notice and the searching officer has to be a 'Firearms' officer. Not just any cop.
Actually, today is the day the gun registry is supposed to be abolished. Wonder if it will happen...
