Hi,
I finally recieved my rust free unmolested 1974 Cuda yesterday.
To my disapointment it is a long way from unmolested.
I bought this car sight unseen, on trust� and unfortunately it was not what the seller described it to be.
He did clearly tell me he had not himself seen the car, but also went on to describe to me a car completely different than the one I recieved yesterday.
Seeing a car first hand is the best way, but lots of pictures help.
I paid $6700. USD for this car, that is not worth $4000.00, it is a basket case from the word go.
There is not one panel that is not beat all to sh$t, and 90% of the interior is garbage.
I am posting the pics in hope that whoever may be purchasing a car sight unseen, or without having a nearby buddy look at it first to think twice.

Yikes, its definetly a project. Ive often wanted to buy site unseen but couldnt make myself do it. Sorry it turned out that way. At least it wasnt a top dollar car that went bad. Good luck with it.

I must have a different opinion of what a "basket case" is. Were these the pics you based your decision on, or the pics you took when you recieved it?

Hi Rev it up,
The first link are some pictures I took of the car after it arrived.
The second link is the original add.
The car in the add looks good, and the description and detail in correspondance on the car sounded good as well.
If the two sets of pictures were presented as an advertisement, you would think they were two different cars.
One requiring a bit of work, the other a lot of work.

Sorry that you didn't receive what you thought you were gonna . . . that always SUCKS!! Rule of thumb . . . always personally inspect any car you are thinking about buying!! Just good buying practice!! :thumbs:

I looked at that car in person.

Besides it needing quarters (I couldn't see the trunk as it was full of crap), the frame and floors looked good. Ditto the firewall.

It was a #s matching (from what he told me; didn't bother to check) 360 'Cuda w/a bunch of new parts.

I don't think it's THAT bad for $6700, but then again, he had so much crap in the pass. compartment and trunk, I couldn't see all what you see now.

Fenders looked okay; ditto the doors (but bondo can hide a lot I'm sure).

I know it has the fender tag and VIN, so it's complete in that sense.

Buyers remorse I suppose, but I don't think you got totally ripped off as a 360 'Cuda is fairly rare and hard to get w/o it being totally rotten from rust (which didn't appear to me this 'Cuda was).

Hi ragtopchally ,
When did you see the car?
I paid for it in full on December 3 2004.
I am surprised you were able to see it, as I had tried to work out hiring someont to go and have a look at it, but the seller said no go.
It would have even helped if I would have known it needed quarters, I would have left it there.

They do look like 2 different cars, or the ad had older pics of the car. Still, the price isn't all that bad either. Are you planning on keeping it and doing the work it needs? If so it will be one sweet car and you will probably have loads of fun working on it. Did you talk to the seller at all since the car arrived?

We said the exact same thing, it is not the same car.
But it is. Doesn't matter at this point.
Yeah I communicated to the seller in an email, his reply was:

"Looks like a really nice car in my opinion. Kinda wish that I wouldn't have
sold it now that I see the pics."

well, maybe he will want to buy it back if you aren't interested in keeping it. The entire situation stinks for you. I could only imagine how P*ssed you were (and probably still are).

I am in Canada, and paid $6750.00 USD for the car, that is $8,360.56 CDN
Then, it cost $1500.00 to have it hauled here from Seattle.
Investment $9860.56

I remember him telling me some guy in CN was wanting to buy it but was taking awhile to get the money, so he had it advertised on Moparts, and it was 10 min. from my house, so I went and looked at it.

I would have bought he (he offered it to me for $5k) if I had room for her, but I don't.

How are the floors? FIrewall? Fenders? Trunk floor? Can't really tell from the pics you showed us.

Like I said, for $6700US ('course, w/shipping, a bit more), I think you have a very good foundation for a project. When Goodmark comes out w/full quarters for 'Cudas this summer, then it'd be pretty easy have any body shop to put them on. Skins are a ***** and $$$ done right (i.e. butt-welding).

I think a factory black 'CUda w/a 360, when done, will be worth >$20k, so I think you still will make out fine. It's just going to take some time when you're starting from scratch.

And as aforementioned, the sucker looked pretty darn solid and minimally rusted. East coast guys would kill for a body like that. :worship:

I can't believe the prices on these cars now.I paid $350 for mine in 85" and drove it home!Other than a wrecked rt quarter panel and rust on top and lowers of fenders it was in great condition.I'm presently going over my car again.I would just hold on to it cause they aint getting easier to find.What's the old saying "A diamond in the rough!"Also 74's are the least made.
