I've got burned before pretty good and have learned from my mistakes. Looking at what you have, I would say you got singed not burned. You have a nice car there and looks like it will restore very well!

It would seem, perhaps, that somebody expected to pay 6K for a factory black, 360 Cuda, and get a turn-key daily driver.

I doubt that a guy with a sweet-a$$ red Cuda in the background in the pics would think that, but for 6K, it would seem that you have a great starter car there.

It'll take some work, but it'd be worth the time and investment, IMO

My point exactly!  As I told Dan when he bought it.  He is paying for a car that needs restored, not a finished car worth around $20K!

I can't believe the prices on these cars now.I paid $350 for mine in 85" and drove it home!Other than a wrecked rt quarter panel and rust on top and lowers of fenders it was in great condition.I'm presently going over my car again.I would just hold on to it cause they aint getting easier to find. What's the  old saying "A diamond in the rough!"Also 74's are the least made.

1985?  That's a whole lifetime ago!

If you bought $1,000 of MS stock in 1986, it would be worth >$100k!  if you bought a house in 1985 for $100k in San Francisco, it'd be worth $750k right now.

Dude, everything's gone up since then, including (I hope) your paycheck.

1987, paid $4k for my 'vert that was completely restored and rust free.

Ragtop you scare me. I was going to quote that and use both the 20 years being a lifetime ago & the MS stock statements in it.

Anyway,

lets see, in 1985, I turned 4 years old, my only perspective on mopar prices is based on the more recent, about the last decade or so MAX. I have never seen a cheap mopar, & I have never purchased gas for under a dollar. Since my perspective isn't skewed by the past ($350 dollar cuda's, That is more unrealistic to me than a $6700 beat to sh!t cuda) I think he overpaid SLIGHTLY for what he recieved. The shipping cost doesn't help matters either. Also since He's canadian it was almost 10,000 CAD for him. I'd be annoyed too if thats what I got for that kind of cash. Not trying to start an arguement, just saying, that is where prices are right now. If you want one of these beasts in 2005, fork over the cash. The days of $350 muscle cars are gone, Heck, I never even saw them, & I'm 23. They are anchient history from this young whipersnappers perspective.

Hmmm, In 1970 when I was a senior in high school my friends dad bought her a brand new AAR for her graduation gift.
I think he paid about $3500. New RS camaros were $2995 and I do remember gas for $.25 per gallon.
Each of us would chip in 25 cents and buy 4 gallons of gas and go cruising in my cousins 1969 428 super cobra jet or my friends 29 AMX 390 or the other guys 69 GTO.
Those were the days.
I bet they all wish they still had those cars.

. The days of $350 muscle cars are gone,
im 35 and i can remeber the cheepest i paid for gas was around 75 cents a gallon. and its true that its almost impossible to buy a Mopar muscle car for under 1500 bones anymore, even for a real basket case. although difficult to find but not impossible i bought my 70 Barracuda for 500 bucks just over a year ago. it needs a lot of work but ive seen them in the same condition as mine without a motor or tranny and they were at 1500 bucks. my Cuda is a numbers car and it runs. all im saying is that they are still out there but they are few and far between. if you are talking about an e-bod that is in good shape for that money you are corect but if you dont mind putting some time and money into a labor of love then they are still out there to be found.

Those pics are a far cry from what you seen in person. 6700 isn't that bad considering you have all the parts with it. What sucs is that you thought the body was in decent shape. It looks as if you first need to sand her down to the bone & see what you've got.

Hi,
The tear down is well under way.
The car had been hit hard on the drivers rear quarter and the body work there was a patch up.
It was hit hard enough that it buckled the outer floor extension to inner floor up about three inches.
The only proper way to repair that damage is to remove the quarter panel which is trash anyway and properly pull it out.
The other quarter although not in an accident is also trash.
I have had two of our best body shops here look at the car (the same guys that did the red 'Cuda you see in the pics on my gallery take a look how straight those panels are) and the extent of the body work required, it is extensive and will be expensive.
There is not one panel on the car that does not need major work, and I am not talking about just sanding it down.
The front fenders are really warpy, almost looks like they were heated up from sanding on a previous paint job or something.
The roof and side pillers have lots of pressed in dents that can not be "popped" back out, they require body tools.
It will be a $10,000.00 body shop bill and then a grille, $1400.00?
Engine is going to AMS in Edmonton, it will be ready in August, Tranny and Diff get a work over here.
Seats are at upholstery shop.
It will be rolling again in a year.
Dan
