Centerforce clutch kit for 440 with 23 spline
« on: February 14, 2012 - 01:46:23 PM »
Can anyone tell me the correct part number for a centerforce clutch kit for my 440, 4 speed, 23 spline, 130 tooth flywheel.
When I go on store web sites, 440's come automatically with the 18 spline which I don't have.
I don't want to order the wrong 400$ part!

Is it DF269675 ??????

Thanks

Do it under a 383 when you search it will be the same clutch with the 23 spline, all the 440's came with the 18 spline 4 speed.

On the centerforce web site , all 383 have a 143 tooth flywheel. Mine has 133, does that change anything?

143 is 11" and  133 is 10 1/2"  I think.

Just a note, I have both the dual friction and the CFT II in my cars,  I MUCH prefer the CFT II .   I would only buy another dual friction if I had 500 HP or more.  it's ok,  but the CFT II is like butter with a easy pedal and way more than enough hold for my 480 HP.

On the centerforce web site for plymouth barracuda I get this :

http://www.centerforce.com/clutches.tpl?cart=13292718914532&subsection=clutchselector&searchStr=csearchStr4&cstep1=step1&cstep2=step2&cstep3=step3&cstep4=step4&carmake=PLYMOUTH&carmodel=GRAN%20FURY%2C%20GTX%2C%20ROADRUNNER%2C%20SATELLITE%2C%20BARRACUDA%2C%20BELVEDERE%2C%20DUSTER%2C%20FURY&caryear=1971&carcyl=8%20CYLINDER&option=clutches

The only clutch kit available for 130 tooth and 23 spline is DF269675 and is a dual friction. There is no CFT II options. Couldn't find one on jegs or summit either, only this one. My flywheel is 12.5 inches wide... centerforce claims it should be 10.5  :clueless:

The price for DF269675 ranges between 400$ and 450$ everywhere except here on amazon.com! It is 301$ !!!

Any comments???

Some guys don't like Cf, my experience has been all good.

I run 11" clutches and had no problem getting a CF II,  but it looks like you may be right there is no 10.4" CFII.

The CF I (  CFT361739 )  would work fine if you're not a big time hot rodder I'm sure , it' better than stock.  but if you want to take no chances it looks like the DF is the only other option.  it's Ok but it feels like the performance clutch it is. kind a grabby and abrupt.
