    what radio are you using

    I will be looking for a new radio to put im my challenger
    What is everyone using? Looking to install something that will fit in the original opening that sounds good.

    I know year one and classic industries sells one that looks just like the origional but is new with all the new goodies for about 500 smackers! I may eventually swap out my origional AM solid state for one of these.

    I bought the one from year one! (500 bucks is no lie either It sure isn't cheap) but its identical to the original visually and has all modern internals.  It works great, and even has an auxiliary plug in the back... my cord is wired through the back and then goes through a hole I drilled in the ashtray assembly... open, you see it, close ash trey, its magic! now you don't... Its cool because you can't see it, but I can still play tunes on an iPod

    Just installed an AM/FM, bought from Year One. Its more like $600, from any distributor! Sounds great. Im running mine through a Rockford Fosgate punch amp in the trunk. If you use amps or EQ , you have to use a line out converter to radio speaker wires. I used Axxcess 4 channel.

    I left the original stock radio in my dash and then mounted a new unit up behind it where it can't be seen and now have great tunes that sound like I am in a concert hall with the help of FatMat and insulation.

    What kind/brand of unit do you use behind the original?  Be curious to see some pics of the installation if you have them.

    "usraptr" = United States raptor - bird of prey = United States Bald Eagle.  FYI, somebody else thought of it first so I had to drop the "O" in raptor.

    When I bought my Challenger as a project, the original 2 watt am radio was mia. I purchased a Sanyo FXCD-500 am/fm/cd/cassette unit along with a pair of Infinity 6x9s for future tunes. I googled it after seeing it mentioned in this thread...
