How to remove se headboard from chally????
« on: February 18, 2012 - 12:05:55 PM »
So, I have a shot at a RED chally se console and headboard.
How do I remove the headboard?
Does anyone have pictures?

Will this fit in a cuda?

The shoulder belt clips, hooks, and mirror have to come off.  Pry off the light bezel carefully (it snaps in) from the ceiling console and that will reveal a couple of screws that hold up the center of the hardboard and console.  There is also a ground wire to unscrew up by the mirror.  Unscrew the socket-head screws on the front of the console to get to the grounding wire screw.

Do I have to remove sail panels, trim, any rear screws?

I assume getting the headboard out of the car is a trick.
Do the front seats have to be removed to maneuver the large headboard out?

And, does the chally headboard work for a cuda?

I know that carpet on a chally is two inch's longer than a cuda carpet set.
Is this the same for a headboard?

Thanks by the way!

All the metal moldings have to come off since they hold the fabric edges.  The sail panels pull off--there's a single spring clip in the center of it like the ones on the bottom edge of the door panel.  You can lower the panel, turn it, and get it out when both the door and quarter windows are lowered.  Try to enlist a friend to help since it's so awkward.

Awesome!  Thanks for the info.

My car is a deputy, so rear windows will have to be pulled in order to have them down.

Hopefully a chally will work in a cuda.
I will start a new thread for that question.

Thanks again!

That's my plan.

I know that Ola has lots of red parts.
He won't seem to sale them to me.
So, maybe he would trade me cuda reds for some chally reds.

If I convert my Challenger to a hardboard liner, will I need new sail panels to match? Care to sell the ones you pull 'Cuda Hunter?

Looks like all the red parts fell through.

They are destined to be crushed.   :pullinghair: :eek4: :crying: :crying: :crying:

Man oh Man!, if you could have got the sail panels, then you could have put up dimensions or sent them to some one for reproduction. Seriously bad news.

Hey Cudahunter, I just saw this on Moparts ebody parts for sale:

I make a fiberglass replacement headliner backerboard that replaces the old "cardboard" backer. Can be used on all 70-74 challengers and se challengers. also will fit the gran coupe with a 2" cut-off the rear window section. The price is $425 plus shipping. john 734-854-5828

So maybe the Cuda headliner is just shorter??

Interesting.  Thanks for pointing that out.
I'll have to contact him about this.

I would assume that upholstery would be stuck to the fiberglass headliner.
